Angry Is this the best Dealer story yet!!!!?

Hi Forum

I've only just registered, but have been reading the forum for the last six months - Excellent stuff

So onto the story - My dealer has had to loan me another Grande Punto Sporting as mine is unable to be taxed!!

The dealer didn't get my name on agreeing the purchase - so made one up!

On picking the car up he 'amended' the details - only for this to be wrong time and time again over the last six months - not to mention that they have lost 2 log books as well.

As a result of losing the last log book, there was no documentation to re-tax the car, so mine is sitting at the dealers for 4 weeks whilst a new log book is requested!!!

Along with the lengthy list of other dealer problems:

only one key
no puncture repair kit
Blue and me only in italian
Fuel on absolute zero - and I mean lucky to get to the pumps
Complimentary floor mats - Only as the car hadn't been cleaned!!!

It's a pity as the car itself is brilliant - The dealer director is trying hard to sort things out, but problems that have been caused earlier are difficult to unpick

Just got my correct log book from the DVLA - I've now got 3 previous owners!!!

That's just completely unacceptable. Aside from the small issues a brand new car with 3 previous owners devalues it immediately.

I've contacted the DVLA to sort the previous owners out - but you do tend to be on your own a bit with Fiat

I hope they do. Give Fiat customer service a call on 00800 3428 0000. They should help in getting the dealer of their arse.

Why do dealers suck the fun out of buying a car? Do they enjoy making people suffer?! I hope everything gets sorted for you.

I think dealers are very different, The ONLY reason I changed from Skoda, is because I couldn't find a decent dealer ner me! the car was fantastic....

My local fiat dealer is a star... small familily owned business, and they look after me really well. My car was 100% when I picked it up (right down to the deep shine polish) and the owner (no sales staff, just the owner and his daughter in the offices) went through all the features with me before I left, for example, showing me the anti hijack feature, display changes, "follow you home" lights ect...

I will keep buying fiats, if I keep getting this kind of service....

edit: and he let me take his panda 100hp demonstrator out for a few hours... just to play with

edit again! moral of this story is... just keep looking until you find a decent dealer

lol! no, you set it up to lock the doors at about 5 mph when you move away..... they automatically unlock if you crash, or if you pull the inside handle... (or press the dash button)
