Well after a year of ownership and 14200 miles its time for its first service... Thankfully im not paying for it! (thanks fiat :p)

Going in tomorrow and staying there till friday as its having some other bits and pieces being done on warrenty too. Mainly trim, sills and the sodding glove box

I have to say though i'd hate to see what a GP sporting be running like if you let it get to its milage limit for a service of 18k miles, as its not exactly amazing at 14k but then it might just be cause its the first one...

So yeah one year down and im still pretty impressed with the GP, its had its little problems but then i've owned fiats before and i expected some buying a car the day it was launched but oh well im happy :)

Bring on the courtesy car tomorrow i wonder what itll be

Hopefully it wont be a purple KA like I was given recently whilst my GP underwent some warranty work :yuck:

Ha Ha! The scariest thing about the 1.3 KA they gave me was it actually felt more responsive than my 1.4 GP sporting when you put your foot down! Although I was still glad to get my GP back as it felt like a real car rather than a roler skate lol!

Hey mate, so the first service, is it after 6 months or 12 months? There's a little service sticker on my windscreen that says I'm due after 6 months so I'm confused

How did you swing a free service?

Car was delayed when i bought it for like 8 weeks so i complained about it to fiat uk and got my first 3 services for free!

Spark plugs at first service remember;)

Dont have spark plugs ;) heh

As far as i know here on the sporting 1.9 mjtd its 18k miles or a year, which ever if first

Oh and yes i have a courtesy car now, a hateful 1.6 16v 2006 hyundai accent, its quite possibely the worst car i've ever driven. Its slow, doesnt handle the steering is quite frankly dangerous! Looking forward to getting the GP back now! :D

Thanks - I just checked the service schedule and it appears to be 30 000km or 12 month, whichever one comes first, and 15 000km for oil & filter change.

Should the car always be serviced every 12 months regardless of mileage?

Have had mine 11 mths, but only done 6,500 miles in it. Should if be done next month or can i leave it until the service inidcator says so, which is about 13,000 miles!!

Have tried to understand the service schedule in the manual but am either reading it when drunk or am completely missing the point when looking at it!!!

Its a 1.4 Active Sport.

Thanks guys.

Its yearly or milage which ever comes first, so to keep it on warrenty you have to have it serviced every year or every 18k miles isnt it?

Thats the way i've always understood it

Says in the service manual i believe, and i got a nice letter from the dealer saying it was due...

yep its first service time for me too...unfortunatly its in a body shop waiting for a steering rack amongst other things after a minor argument with a railing which i won btw :bang:

how would that work out? do i take it in as soon as i get it back or speak nicely to the them and hope it doesnt affect warranty

If the vehicle has covered less than 9000 miles at 12 months then you are entitled (if requested) to have a low mileage service and you dont need the full service.
