Hill holder, can i be turned off????

Ive been having problems with the hill holder, its flashes up unavailable quite alot, the traction light stays on,but then once you turn off and restart its gone!

To be honest,i could do without it,so can it be turned off by the dealer,or is there just a fault with mine coming on?

Get it sorted at dealer, its a feature you have paid for and once used to it its very handy.Probably just brake switch setup fault.

I would say get it it fixed, as like T says once you get used to it, it is handy. At first I found it strange but now whenever I drive my wifes car without hill-holder I really miss it!

Re: Hill holder, can i be turned off????

yeah get it fixed i had a problem with my hill hold as well took them half an hour to fix it and have not had a problem since

how it works
if you are on a hill with your foot on the brake and then release your foot the car will hold for a about 2 seconds before rolling back, so when drive off for standing on hill you will never roll backwards.

Re: Hill holder, can i be turned off????

I considered getting it as an option, but ended up saying to myself it wasn't really necessary. If you're quick with your foot the car shouldn't be rolling back too much anyway..

Make it easier in traffic jams on slip roads etc, less strain & effort Also good if your driveway is on hill etc...

Yeh true, but then again its a bit like driving an auto - you would lose some control of what driving is all about. Having said that though its obvious some people find it useful, otherwise no one would want one.

Re: Hill holder, can i be turned off????

as far as I know it can't be switched off,it is bloody annoying,to get the light to go out, standing start ,full acceleration for 1 second and it will go off.I'm a driving instructor, some of my pupils get it to come on by the way they brake, feathering the brake I think,I can't get it to come on on purpose,I have been in to fiat and asked them to turn it off but they can't,I don't tell my pupils about it then they don't rely on it.

Am I the only person who actually uses the hand brake in these situations?

Theres no point in paying good money for a hill holder when you can do the same thing with your left hand!
