Emergency Help

I am hoping you guys can help me.

I have been given a Fiat Grande Punto as a hire car while my car is in the body shop getting some work done.

Unfortunatly this morning I kerb'ed it and dented the steel wheel.

It goes back on Wednesday and Fiat Europe have no steel wheels for the 1.2 Grande Active anywhere in Europ supposedly.

Is the wheel that different?

I am desperate to find somewhere to get it from or a wheel I can replace it with so it only costs me £75 instead of 00's which the hire company will charge me.

Hope you guys can help and let me know if it is a specific type of wheel or a source I could get one from?

Re: Emergency Help

Dont know if this helps but stoneacre in Worksop Notts has 4 for 14.99 each plus 10 for postage, but I would assume you would have to fetch it to fit in time.

Re: Emergency Help

how bad is the rim,
you can knock the dent out yourself if its not that bad, once you have swap it with the spare, the kit over the spare tyre will hide the rim.

Re: Emergency Help

It is only a hire car. Just give it back, they won't notice a kerbed wheel, especially if it goes back dirty.

Just make sure they do the vehicle inspection at handover while you are present. This is golden rule with any hire vehicle though. Anything they find once you are gone is there problem.

Re: Emergency Help

That looks very useful. At that price I would pay the extra for next day delivery.

Just a little nervous as I am going on whe key ring saying it is a Grande Punto.

Any way of telling the wheel size I need? 15" etc?

I ain't got a clue and ensuring it is the right one. Don't want to shell out £25 and find I got the wrong one.

Panicing a little here.

I got no log book and only going on what is reported off a spare parts site that looks at DVLA.

DVLA reports the manufacture date of 28th Sept 2006. I am right to assume it is a Grande?

Re: Emergency Help

It is definatly a Grande Punto.

Hire company know about it as I had to speak to them to get it home.

Unfortunatly the wheel vibrates at anything over 50. The wheel is buckled. Although they said as long as the panel work is ok then the Wheels/Tyres are down to me. So If I can replace the wheel I will be fine.

Its definatly a Grande.

Type size on there is 175/65 R15 84T

I know it is a 1.2 Active for sure.

I got a garage that can do a free swap over of the tyre all I need is the part og and a wheel trim but thats only £15.

A lot cheaper than being charged every day the vehicle is off the road.

No spare. Its a space saver so can't hide it that way.

Sounds like a plan . Is the tyre damage free then? as to damage a wheel like that must of took some doing .

Re: Emergency Help

Does the tyre size sound good for the wheel in the ebay ad?

I sort of drove over a corner of the kerb at about 20Mph.

The tyre had cocrete marks on the wall but everything looked ok.

It clipped the lip of the Rim which is where the dent is.

It was quite a smack but at an angle. Hence the strange amount of damage.

Thanks for all the advice guys/gals.

Re: Emergency Help

Brilliant.

Thanks for all the help.

Will purchase now.

Hmmm I wonder if a colleague would mind picking it up for me lol.

Thanks for all the help. The race is on to get it fitted before the hire car co. want it back.

Re: Emergency Help

Well if you ever make it down Swindon way i'll put a pint on the bar for you Vindi.

Now I hope the dealership down here have a spare wheel trim.

I think that will need replacing to as it is scuffed. But that is going to cost just as much as the wheel. Might just see what it looks like when I get the wheel done.
