(T) Intermittent loss of power!

The wife's Grande Punto 1.9 Mjet is losing power intermittently. I know others who've had similar problems with Fiat/Alfa diesels and it has been the EGR valve but can't find any similar occurences in this section. So just wondering if anyone else has had this and if so what was at fault.

What do you mean by losing power?

Flat spots?

Less power generally that varies from different days driving?

No, car is driving fine one moment then won't accelerate, no power.

had a couple of EGR's on these...only a diagnosic will confirm this though.

Well kudos to Roadside in Coleraine as they squeezed me into a very busy morning. No fault showing on the diagnostic but the technician checked the EGR valve and it was indeed sticking. Cleaned it out and the car's going great now but they've ordered up a new one and will replace it.

Thanks also to Mervyn Stewarts too who would have squeezed me in but they were even busier, if anything, and couldn't guarantee a fix today.

yes im to also suffering with power loss got a gp sporting 130 diesel taken it to garage on 26.02.08 under warranty told egr valve needed,typical havent got one until friday 29th.have to be a sunday driver for a few more days.

My EGR valve is being done at the moment.

Lets hope thats the reason my GPS is seriously down on power

Well EGR valve replaced today. There weren't any in the UK apparently so it had to come from Italy. Car is back to normal again.
