Q: turn indicators blink on opening boot

Hi!

First of all sorry for bad english.

I have a little problem with my MY07 GP. Picked it up about 1 month ago. Yesterday i noticed, when i push boot opening button on my GP's key turn indicators blink twice. Is it normal? I searched for 2 hours from GP's User Manual for answer. didn't find anything. My GP is fitted with car alarm provided by dealer. Perhaps blinking is caused by car alarm.

Best Regards
Margus

Hello Margus and Welcome.

I would say you are probably right, that it is the dealer fitted alarm.
My 1.9 GP does nothing but release the boot when I push my release button on the key or the dashboard.

Yes, it is normal. Also if you try to lock the doors with the tailgate open the doors still lock but the indicators flash rapidly to warn you.

Re: Q: turn indicators blink on opening boot

hmmm, my mate saw a pug with slow flash rate. How would you slow it down - using an additional relay or larger?
sorry to hijack

Or any door that's not closed properly. Flashes 10 times (iirc) quickly - nice feature

Re: Q: turn indicators blink on opening boot

In fact, unlocking the boot gives you two quick flashes.

Unlocking the doors gives you two slow flashes.

Frankly, on unlocking the car, I find the CLUNK more than enough confirmation that I've unlocked the doors! But it helps in finding your car in the multi-storey!

Agree with everything else said here about super quick flashing if you've left the boot lid ajar or a door open and try to lock the car. Very useful.

i wouldn't do that depending on the multi-storey, especially if you are not very close. i always press the lock button again as it still makes the indicators flash once so will save anyone from being able to get in your car!

If you've got deadlocks the indicators flash 3 times on locking. You have to press the lock button twice within 1 second to activate the deadlocks.
