ASR Fault !!!!

Since ive had the punto the ASR light comes on and disables it and the hill holder funtion, in the last 3 months its been back to the dealer 3 times and low and behold its stopped again...fisrt few times they said it was randomw and wiped the fault off, last time it went in they said it was something to do with the steering...this morning just about to pull out from petrol station and the steering locked couldnt move it one bit ...turned the engine on and off and it was fine. Anyone else had this problem, its really pi55in me off. i want everythin sorted before i have a remap but it will be ages off if this keeps happening !!!!!

Re: ASR Fault !!!!

Theres at least 3 software updates available for the GP most important one for the body computer...simply suggest to garage can they check they have been done.

(if they dont know how tell them to go into 'control unit programming' on examiner & check each section)

Re: ASR Fault !!!!

How often are updates made available - is it only when a fault/glitch has been discovered or are they available regularly regardless?

Re: ASR Fault !!!!

I took the car back to Fiat today and they advised it will need a new steering column. apparently the asr / hill holder electrics all sit within the steering column..im also awaiting Fiat to get back to me about my alloys..will see if they will agree to replace /refurb them due to the centre caps issues that a few people seem to have had on this forum

Think you find the are directly controlled by the ABS unit with inputs from various other sensors.

Re: ASR Fault !!!!

Im kinda used to it, every car i have had i always seem to have a few niggles including my old fabia vrs !
On a positive though the people at Fait seemed very pleasent and had a chat with the service manager. They havent done may GP sporting services and i was trying to figure out if mine was due ! Its done 13K they said i could have a full service for 190 quid or one for 130 quid that did not include changing the oil or DPF....! I will be going for the full service once all the parts are available.
