(T) Reverse lights?

Can anyone tell me if there is one or two reverse lights on the 06 grande punto. Just bought one and noticed that the rear left light is clear glass and the rear right is red glass. Only the clear light comes on when reversing. Is this normal or has there been some kind of work done on mine?!

In Germany and some other countries only one reversing light is permitted by law, so the other is usually a blank. Makes sense actually since there is no confusion as to which way the car in front might be facing!

Often UK spec cars only have one reversing light too. No pattern though.

I don't know about the UK GP, put possibly this is the case.

THis is normal on alot of cars and I believe the 06 GP is no different.

reverse light must be on kerbside wether there is one fitted on offside or not.

Soooo many customers come stomping back into the showroom to complain that their driver's side reverse lamp isn't working.......

Then we tell them to switch on the rear foglamp!

It's not exactly rocket science to work out that the offside light is the fog lamp... it is red after all!

On a similar note - when you go in reverse it makes that funny "rrrrrroooo" noise (sorry but that's my best impersonation) - what's the technical explanation behind that?

Are you refering to the noise when you actually engage the gear or the engine noise when you are reversing. If you are talking about the engine noise its because its a really short gear. Obviously you dont normal spend much time in reverse or generally go very fast so its short in order to make it easier.

Well some have two reverse lights & two fogs.....legal requirement is reverse light on n/s.

There is no legal requirement to have a single reverse light fitted to the near-side. Only that if there are two fitted then they must be symetrical. If only one rear fog is fitted then it must be in the centre or to the off-side of centre. (The road vehicle lighting regulations 1989)

Yes your correct,forgot about the ford sportka central reverse light which is good example & peugeot central fog light.
