Issues!!!!

Hiya all,

Just a quick question....

In "idiots guide" please which oil do i get for my car (1.2 8V)? Bear in mind, i do not wanna pay some stupid price for this, but wanna get the right stuff as i do 85 miles a day.

Also, previous post on ABS.... This has never come back so seems to be resolved?? I'll still get it checked i think, do the dealers charge a fee for diagnostics if they find no fault.

Next issue.. On way to work, my mileage started flashing at me!!! I did not press anything, and i'm approaching 5000 miles... Anyone know what this is???

Full fault list so far (From Feb 07):

ABS light stayed on... In the p*****g rain, never since...
Sqeak whenever i use the clutch, passengers now hear it!!!
Some **** scraped my drivers wing mirror!!!!

Oh yeah, and FYI, the castrol site has a oil selection thing where you can choose the car and they reccomend an oil.. According to this, they reccomend EDGE 0W-30, or MAGNATEC 10W-40 A3/B3. Which one would be best from these??? Also, where is cheapest to get this (Assuming it is the right stuff for me to get)?

Thanks in advance,

Carl.

Why not just go with whatever's recommended in the manual?

I could be wrong on this but I think someone mentioned a proxy alignment?

Re: Issues!!!!

Hi Carlos, regards the oil, while under warranty I would stick to the recomended Selenia? Might,... just might stop you becoming a GP poor lube victim. I also had that ABS / EBD fail flash up, after I stopped on a hill and pressed the brake pedal twice with the Hill Holder on, went away after I switched ignition off and back on though, not seen since.
No idea on the mileage flashing though... handbook say anything?

Re: Issues!!!!

I'm in work for the day, so can't get to handbook till tonight...

How much would the Selina set me back??? Also, where do i get it, or do i have to go to a dealer?? not too ideal really, as the dealers are quite a ditance away.

Re: Issues!!!!

Selenia is quite pricey Carlos, but its what the manufacturer wants used to maintain their warranty, there are other threads on this debate, equivalent oils and oils exceeding Selenia spec etc etc. I would imagine you can get it off the Net, just put it into a search engine.

Re: Issues!!!!

When my car was serviced the invoice said Castol Magnatec 10w-40 oil. I questioned this as I would have expected that being a FIAT dealer they would have used Selina but they said as long as it was the correct spec it didn't matter.

Anyway i didn't really care because as soon as i got the car home I drained the oil and filled it back up with Mobil one (the things you have to do to keep your warrenty live)

Re: Issues!!!!

2 Dealers I spoke to, Desira, Southgate and Thames Fiat tell me that although Mobil 1 is a great oil it is too thin.....they both recommended Selenia Performa synthetic oil.
