| RAC 500W | Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? 3 words - Nigel at Angel. Simple. A few of us on here have just had ours done by him and im sure i speak for all of us when i say he has done a great job. When you look at Celtics website it says that they can produce 190bhp, not many people i have spoken to firstly think this is what they can get and secondly, Angel limit theirs to 170bhp as they are also thinking about drivability and longitivity of the engine, etc. Obviously you may hear good things about Celtic from others but i cant think of any on here. Hope this helps. Rich

| Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? I booked Celtic some months ago, but when he tried to remap my ECU he discovered that there was some technical difficulty that would require its removal in a workshop environment. He was very amiable but that was the end of that. Damn! When I subsequently spoke to Nigel, he also said that the ECU may very well have to be removed by them to be re-programmed (or, more accurately, to be backed up first) but might not have to be. He wouldn't know until the day. But, even if it did need removal he could do on-site. Quite how this would be accomplished in the pouring rain is anyone's guess but that's the info I have. Unfortunately, since the failed Celtic attempt the money was used for other purposes (sending my daughter on an intensive revision course, for those who really want to know) so I've not had the opportunity to try Angel first hand. He did say (as Celtic did) that he would take a backup both before and after the remap, so a) he could back-out a remapped ECU within 14 days if I didn't like it and give me back my money (try-after-you-buy sort of thing) and also reset it back to original settings when I sold the car (if required) b) could re-apply the remap should my friendly FIAT dealer reprogram the ECU when it went in for a service. This reapplication would cost £25 (as far as I remember). I'm still saving my pennies for the Angel remap but it's not that easy! If what I have said is incorrect I'm sure someone from either company will put it right...

| Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? yea whilst browsing the forum another time, i did see alot of you had used angel tuning, even tho the advert for celtic seems to pop up more for me lol. also as celtic claim, the remap will go unnoticed by fiat dealers etc, have u guys found this ok? but im really glad, its been very positive feedback on the remap!

With regards to it going unnoticed this isnt technically true. As much as they can not tell by looking at the car if they need to run a diagnostics check due to a running problem the kit they use will throw up an error. Either way, they are both the same, Angels is not detectable if Celtics isnt. If you get what i mean, lol. Rich

| Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? i do understand lol i think that wud be the only drawback for me, loosing the warrenty on the car! hows for insurance? has everyone kept it quiet from them? if there is a topic with this already being discussed, please refer me to it, thanks!

| RAC 500W | Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? Lol, good. I was worried about this but i spoke to a friend of mine who is the MD of a dealership and he said the chances are they would not refuse to do the work they would just require the map to be set back to standard so that their kit can read it. As for the insurance, thats your own choice. In theory there is next to no chance of them finding out but then if they do, big trouble. Rich

| Forum Moderator | Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? It is possible to detect a remap but only if you know where to look,99.99999999999% of the time you will ave no problem.I would get a remap (if I considered it worthwhile to my circumstances) done without worry of detection.

| Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? Guys, We regularly check the status of the conversations regarding Celtic Tuning on this forum. Quite often we have people state some quite amusing things regarding ourselves nine times out of ten we let them go as we don't believe in arguing with people who feel they know more about tuning than ourselves. let me just clear some stuff up. We never say it is totally undetectable to main dealer diagnostics we merely state that the dealer will not find it on the diagnostics unless they apply enough time to go looking for the remap and even then you need to know where to look. We know this because we work alongside a very reputable Fiat Alfa dealership and as we operate fiat's and alfa's ourselves we have tested our vehicles on their diagnostics. As for the invalidation of waranty this comes down to your dealership. At the end of the day if there is a mechanical fault with your vehicle if they invalidate your warranty, are you going to take it there to get it fixed? no. The dealerships want your money still and it is not them who pay for it, it's Fiat themselves who reimburse them. Accompany this with the fact that a lot of main delaers offer emaps as a means to sell cars they could hardly turn round after doing so and invalidate the warranty of the vehicle they arranged to remap. With reference to our power figures they are dyno developed files that are designed to be safe and reliable for the engine long term. It is not in our interest to tune your vehicle so that in 10-20k miles down the road it falls to pieces. As mentioned earlier we operate fiat's and have them remapped to a higher state of tune than we provide the public and we run to excess of 140k on the clock and do not get any issues. We are not here to abuse or slate other tuning companies, there are many ways to skin a cat as there are many ways to tune cars. All I will say is get a good perspective if you want to see what we can do for you car contact us. As for the advertising at the top of the page we merely pay for sponsorship of the site there is no weighting system in place as far as I am aware and we certainly do not pay extra to get the image shown up more frequently. That all said everyone have a good day. Regards, Tony Celtic Tuning

| Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? tbh I think when there are two companies that offer the same type of service (McDonalds/Burger King, Pepsi/Coke, Windows/OSX etc.) there are always gonna be these kind of discussions! It's near impossible, without getting a sample of say 25 people that went Celtic and 25 that went Angel to fill out questionnaires, for anyone to say which is best... I think that the fact Tony has taken time out to post here shows that Celtic can't be quite as bad as seems to be suggested here. But hey, that's just my 2 pence worth...

| RAC 500W | Re: Celtic tuning or Angel tuning? Im sure Tony is a nice guy. I personally have never met him or had any work done by Celtic so i can not comment on either. I know people however that have had work done by them and have been less than happy. I know for a fact that one person had their car dyno tested after a re-map and the gains were nowhere near the claimed figures. Luckily the guy was fairly well off so just put it down to bad experience and went elsewhere. With regards to him posting on here, Angel are also on here and are far more active. If you can be a long standing member and talk to your customers on a daily basis then you cant be doing much wrong. Rich
