Puncture!

Hopefully someone can help me out?

3 week old Grande Punto with split/puncture on side wall of tyre and no spare wheel etc called AA out who were brilliant and took me and wheel to nearest tyre place and go me back on road in just under 1 hour and £50 lighter! but as the AA man said I would be scre**ed if it happended on a sunday! so I was looking in to ditching the get you home kit etc and buying a spare and jack and wheel brace etc anyone any tips on how to go about this as cheaply as possible

Thanks in advance

OH yes and what torque settings should the wheel nuts be tightened up to AA man said his guidebooks for Fiats said 100 something or other is this correct? couldnt find any refrence to wheel nut tightness in manual

Re: Puncture!

It didn't come with a spare when you bought it?

The sporting IIRC and some of the other spec levels come with a can of puncture sealent and a small compressor instead of a good old spair/ jack...

Andy someone on her might be willing to sell you one of their old wheels if they have fitted aftermarket alloys to an active (you would also need to source steel bolts to suit)

you best bet is to ring your local Fiat parts department and get a price on a replacement jack and spair wheel..

Re: Puncture!

See those fix and go kits are useless, nothing beats a full size spare. I wouldn't leave the garage without one.

I know which one I would prefer: spare tyre or a sealant kit..

Re: Puncture!

Andy, there are already threads covering this problem. But anyway what you need is a 6J X 15 steel wheel, I got one off Ebay. Fit it with the right size tyre(the handbook will tell you which one depending on the tyres you've got on the car) You can get a Mk 2 Punto jack and wheel brace kit off Ebay or go to the scrapyard. If you've got original Fiat alloys then the bolts will do for the steel wheel as well.
