| squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) hey all, I'm getting a squeeky noise from the engine bay at tickover/v.slow manouvers... related to engine speed not road speed, sound like an old car with a slightly loose alternator belt (though quieter, and not related to 'load' on the alternator [I tested this]) any ideas? or similar noises? everything appears to be working fine.... all fluid levels ect check out....

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) It's either just a squeaky belt, or there really are mice trapped in your engine It might go away on it's own eventually, a lot of cars have squeaky engines when idling.

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) I had a squeak from the clutch spring (more a quiet moaning noise, almost like a cow moo-ing) but WD40 cured it.

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) Try spraying some WD40 in places you think it might be coming from. That stuff fixes any squeak

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) may actually have a go at that, the more I investigate, the more it seems to be a rubber mounting that is squeeking with the movement ove the engine, it even does it when turning the engine over before it starts... but hardly at all at speed... a bit of grease is in order I think....

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) Have you figured out what was causing the noise? I've got a GP 1.9, and it's started making the same noise in the same circumstances. Mark S

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!)
it was fixed by the dealer a few days ago after I got worried because it was getting worse.... took him a while to find it, but 10 seconds to fix! lol... was a clip on the gear linkages that was not connected, he shoved it back in properly, and all is now fine and quiet

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) Thanks for that info. I do sometimes hear the squeak as I change gear, so it may well be the same problem that I've got. The car's off to the dealer next week, so we'll see what they have to say. Mark S

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) Sharkrider, any idea where said linkage is. Is it something I could have a go at as my car has the same problem. Anything to save a trip to my dealer!

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) I saw 'em fix it, but didn't get under the ramp to get a close look, but its somewhere in front of the first 'box' on the exhaust, a liitle tricky to get to (above the exhaust) and to do with the gear linkages apparently... best I can do... if you get under there and its the same prob, I'm sure you'll see something hanging loose......

| Re: squeeky noise (trapped mice?!) The garage said the problem was due a gear cable not being tied down, which sounds pretty much like the problem Sharkrider had. Mark S
