GP speakers

Was playing around with the audio controls, then must have pressed something and all of a sudden the volume shot up to 23, almost splitting my ear drums! Does it do any harm to the speakers if I had it on 4, then all of a sudden shot up to 23?

Re: GP speakers

If the speakers still work then there's no harm done, the only thing that damages speakers is when they're loud enough to distort.

Stop worrying!

When they start to crackle and don't sound very good, the more bass there is in the sound the more they will distort.

How good do they sound anyway?

Re: GP speakers

I've never had much interest in car audios so haven't paid much attention, but they're not too bad I guess..

Re: GP speakers

Had a listened to all four speakers just then at high volume, and the rear right started to slightly crackle. Tried the next track, no crackle. So the quality of the song plays a part I guess

Speakers should be alright, only had it on level 23 twice. If it was a constant practise then I would start to worry..

Re: GP speakers

Well if you want to listen to music at that volume the you should be more worried about your ears than anything else

Re: GP speakers

I presume that the subwoofer option would help cope with the bass better than the speakers alone.

no, it just adds more bass, the speakers can still only handle the same with or without the sub.

if turned to the same level they will still distort.

for better sound quality and volume. and to avoid completely trashing the standards, install new comps.

what im doing in a week or so.
