(T) Help Oil Level (dip stick)

HI, Can anyone help?

I've just purchased a new Grande Punto and had a look under the bonet and pulled out my Dip stick to find no marking for min/max just a round circle!

The question is how can I tell my min/max (oil level)?

Welcome mate! That's right, no max or min marks. As long as the oil level is with the two points (should be maxed if its a brand new car) then you're fine

Italians already know how much oil is supposed to be in the car

And in their pastas. Oops.. is this going to be deleted or am I going to be banned for being racist?

Well I'm Italian so I could find that offensive...

Just like with food we require no measuring cup for ingredients, it always needs "About that much" oil

Shouldn't you buy the GP right away if you're patriotic enough?

You dont need to use the dip stick the car will tell you when it needs topping up

Think its mentioned somewhere in the manual via a warning light. But its still a good idea to check oil level at least once a week.

at least once a week? i checked it first after 4000 miles lol

I have to admit I don't check mine as often as I should, but once a week is just being really safe. My point is if you love your car enough then you should stay on top of things like fluid levels, tyre wear etc etc throughout the life of the car to ensure its in top shape

But don't be too excessive about it otherwise you'll get paranoia like me - T would know, right?

Every week as Kev said.....GP's can consume alot of oil when new & I have came across many with dangerously low oil.Check it at same time as filling washer bottle.....................you do fill washer bottle dont you?

just out of curiosity, if you take it back to the dealership where you brought the car from, will they top the oil up for you or will you have to pay for it? sounds like im being a cheap skate, but just wondering. thanks...

LOL nice try..........we always give cars quick check over when they are in for any reason (recall/repair etc) & top them up if required
