(T) Auto Beeps When I Park

I hope someone here can explain to me what I'm doing wrong. I have recently been given a new shape grand punto to drive. It has a "semi-automatic" gearbox and whenever I park it beeps at me like it is trying to warn me that I'm doing something wrong.
I make sure that I put the gears into Neutral and put on the hand break but when I switch of the engine it beeps at me and the N (for Neutral) flashes on the daskboard display.

What should I do?

i dont drive a gp but doesnt the manual tell you parking up procedure?

Unfortunately I only have the Punto from a hire company and I was not provided with a manual. So if anyone reading this has one - can they please tell me what it says? :-)

don't auto's have a "P" gear for parking?

Yup. Normally 'P' is for parking...at elast it was in the few auto's I've had the misfortune to drive.

No P on dualogic just N.

Hmm, so you like to leave your car in Neutral when you park? That is the problem, user error and the car is beeping at you to rectify it. The GP is just following correct procedures

dualogic just changes gear for you at touch of lever (steering wheel controls in selespeed alfas) or automatically in auto mode...still gotta use your handbrake................if you pass driving test in dualogic can you drive a manual or auto only

The problem is the fact he wants to leave it in neutral - when you park, and the car is beeping, just knock it into reverse or 1st - the beeping soon stops, and then you can leave the car SAFELY, with the handbrake on as an added safeguard.

Well you can leave it in N, but it'll just beep - like you said, best to leave it in either 1 or R.

When starting the car just make sure you step on the brake and shift it back to N before you turn the ignition, otherwise it'll beep again

Beeping means you're doing something it doesn't like

You sure it it's parking sensors?

No, it isn't parking sensors - they only engage when you are reversing, surely.
