An update of my brakes groaning.

I took the car into the dealer for the brake noise, in Reading. I was informed that he could do nothing for it, as they had replaced the brakes on another punto, to no joy. He said Fiat knew about this and where looking into it. Can anyone give me some help on what my rights are, I dont really feel that good, as the noise is really dreadful.

I love the car, but do not want fiat, to turn around later and say that I have further caused more damage by driving my car. So they will not repair it? If anyone can advice, I would be greatful.

Is the first point at http://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punt...-problems.html what you mean?

How can they possibly accuse you of that if they know about the problem and yet are incompetent enough to fix it? I wouldn't stress one second over it.

Re: An update of my brakes groaning.

Rampage94- I got the dealer to write out what they had done, and got it stamped and signed by the servicing manager.
I wanted something in writing, he obliged.

luvduvs- First point, its the rear brakes, they already knew about it in the dealership. I had explained that it semed to be the back the noise was coming from.

I totally agree with you but it's so unnerving, when I am driving to hear that noise. I was wondering what my rights are i.e can I demand that they replace the brakes or replace my car. The only reason I ask, is my wife is pregnant with out first born due in May. She does not feel very safe in the car when she hears that noise.

Re: An update of my brakes groaning.

Modified pads and damper kit cures the noise!

Shoppy just drive the car & stop worrying, your car is under warranty & the noise will do no harm except annoy you at traffic lights

Best bet is to upgrade the brakes on the car with performance disks and pads esp if ur deciding to tune it up later but if u dont, still worth doing purly cos ur go through the standard brakes in no time, cos the car is amazing to drive.
I am thinking of doing it 2 mine cos tuned it up and looking to get Reddot. used them in the past on my Uno turbo and were great

Re: An update of my brakes groaning.

Brakes are adequate for the car, infact the GP has good brakes that do not wear out quickly.

Re: An update of my brakes groaning.

Never had a problem with GP after mod pads/dampner kit fitted.Seems a waste of money to me,at least let first (original) set wear out first...still its your money to do as you please.
