| The Only Gay Eskimo | Side Rubbing Strips.... Hellew Guys Having owned my GP for nearly 8 months, ive come to the conclusion that i love the whole of the car, except one bit...... Those stupid Rubbing Strips defacing the entire side of my car So i was just wondering, how would i go about removing sed defacing strips? Is it easy or would i need the dealer to do it? Cheers in advance | ||

| The Only Gay Eskimo | Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... You can have mine, it wouldnt be AS bad if they were body coloured but they arent, so all there is are 2 black strips in the middle of a grey car, looks s**t imo | ||

| Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... I think you can just get a hair drier and heat it up and carefully peel it off, you will probs have to polish the sticky glue off it but a bit clean, polish and wax would remove it. If your having difficulty removing it then a tar remover would work.

| Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... If there like Mk2 rubstrips, just boil the kettle, pour hot water on them and start to pull. | |||

| Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... they are just stuck on with double sided tape i'd use a bit of fishing line to saw the adhesive rather than just pull that way you dont pull the paint off you watch you will remove them then the next day someone will ding your door.. ![]() | |||

| Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... If they are stuck on with double-sided tape then you could try softening the adhesive with white spirit. White spirit doesn't attack paint - I use it for cleaning off tar and traffic grime. I would allow it to flow into the gap between the strips and the bodywork and apply it a few times before trying to pull the strips off. Also, try the shortest length first. How do you know that Fiat haven't fitted your car with side rubbing strips for a reason? Yours might have been one with a bodywork or paintwork fault in a very convenient place!

| Re: Side Rubbing Strips.... They have saved me so much money my cousins like opening ma doors into things (gate posts mainly) but i have had them on both of a GP now new car got them sprayed by the dealer. Couldn't do without them. When people rest there door on yours in car parks u dont get scratched door. I would regret taking mine off.
