My Punto Plans

Hey, recently baught a punto should be available for collection in a few days.

its the 1.2 light blue dynamic with light blue matching interia and its my first car im so excited

Problem is, as im young, I would realy like to make a few adjustments to the car (as you do) I was just wondering if i could get peoples opinions on what they think to my future plans.

Here is a picture of the car, you can use the next buttons to view different parts.
http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/uvl...geId=730331006

I have priced everything up and the mods should coast around £1358, maybe stretching £1500.
But in my opinon well worth it.

Bodykit
I wasnt realy planning on adding a kit but i found this kit that is available for a guarage near where i live and ive gorwn very attatched to it.
But is it a bit too much for the colour i have chosen?
(the back of the car shows 4 exhausts 2 either side, im just going to have 1 either side as i think 4 are too many)
http://www.m-99.co.uk/Car_Bodykits/F...nto_coyote.jpg

Alloys
I have also found these 15" allow wheels that im very attracted to, that come with the tyres and everything else.
Ironically there called "Team Dynamics Driftz" :P

Tinted Windows
I would like to add tinted windows but not sure which ones and weather it would look ok.

Thats about all, i dont want to over do it, but i think i already have, please let me know what you think. should i bother? I personaly think it would look pretty nice.

Re: My Punto Plans

Hi and welcome.

Right then just to start with the tints should be good, a lot of people have done them here, although I don't think I have seen any on a light blue GP as you say.

Secondly alloys, if you want them and can get them ok through insurance then go for them

Third, wait a while before you get that bodykit. Reason I say this is because when I got my GP I wanted a body kit also, however once you own and drive the car for a while (4 months) you realize how nice it looks without a kit and how ugly that kit looks of the GP. The GP is a nice looking car with sleek lines and believe me you will want to keep them

Yeah, its just i want somthing different, and you got to admit that bodykit looks pretty sweet.
Thing is, i already do love the GP's style, im a big fan of the guy that designed it, it usualy designs masseratis, as you can see the GP has allot in common with them http://www.carforums.net/reviews/mak...maserati12.jpg

I think i will take your advice and wait it out with the bodykit. what about the tints, im going to go for black as i think coloured tints look tacky, its a 3door punto, should i just have the tints on the back windows?

Re: My Punto Plans

Yep definetly black tints. A lot of people do rears a dark tint, I would say go all round with a slightly light-medium tint, it'll be different.

And no I dont like the kit at all. And neither will you in a few months.

Re: My Punto Plans

Yeah i gotta agree bout the bodykit, the alloys and tints are a good idea but the kit is ugly imo. You should save your money and lower your car, would look a lot better

Re: My Punto Plans

Put the sporting bodykit on it. GP's with halfords body kits just look appauling.

Why do people want to ruin a beautiful car??

Would you put a bodykit on a maserati coupe?

Re: My Punto Plans

that bodykit makes me feel sick

plus thinking about when you want to sell it, ull never get back the money you've spent and will prob get less than a standard one! .........yes ive been there done that when i was 17

personally stick a nice set of wheels on 17/18" will look much than 15" and make sure you keep the standard wheels to put back on! 17/18" will fit with no problems.

Lowering would make it look much better aswell!!

........if you really want to part with that amount of cash how about some sporting sideskirts?

THEN spend the rest of the money enjoying yourself getting drunk, taking a holiday

Ok its decided, I will just get the alloys to size 17/18 and tints, thank you very much for your opinions!

what do i do to get it lowered? i like that idea :P

I think the interia is the main sex appeal about this car, thats why i chose that light blue out of the very appealing dark blue they have and black, Maybe i should work on the inside i abit.
Would realy love to hook a ps2 slimline up to a portable dvd player for the back but i dont think its possible, and its starting to get expensive.

For the 15" rims its £500 for the 17" rims im looking at £700+ which is a huge difference is price, is the looks all that different? and are you sure they will fit without any extra modifications?

Re: My Punto Plans

Well if you can reuse the tyres you currently have on your car now (175/65/R15's i think) it would work out a lot cheaper to buy 15's. Quality 15" alloys are only £3-400 odd with tyres so even less if you reuse your tyres, plus you can sell the standard Fiat alloys on the bay for probs for at least £50-75, but 17" will always look better than 15".

im getting them from halfords but it includes fitting and the tyres.
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...tegoryrn_70553

you just gotta love that black with chrome :P

One last question.
Did i make the right choice?
It was either have a black or darkblue 1.2 active without the toys, or a light blue 1.2 dynamic with all the toys on it.

Im not sure that on the outside that colour was such a good idea, but on the inside the colour makes sence with all the panels and stuff.

I dont know, what would you have done in my possition?

Re: My Punto Plans

What ever you do make sure you dont invalidate your insurance,

Many insurance companies wont cover Modifications until your 25 Many fail to declare mods but by changing the wheels and lowering your altering the "top speed, Acceleration or Handling of the car" to quote what most insurance companies say will simply void your policy.

Now whether you declare them or not is your call BUT in the event of a bad accident where your car gets recovered to a police compound or inspected by the insurance assessor before you get out of hospital your not going to get away with sneaking in and putting your original alloys back on... They could VOID your policy meaning that you wont get paid out not only that you then try getting insurance in the future for having insurance refused.....

like i said its your call, phone about insurance co's and do your homework first....

Re: My Punto Plans

Yeah, i already have, they say its ok and they have only raised my insurance as much as makes no difference.

Im not going to tell them about the tints though, i shouldnt have to.

But do you think i made the right choice in getting that car?
