Window Tinting - Easy my ars....

Well,

I thought I would have ago at tinting the rear windows of the GP after seeing that fellow members have had it done/done it themselves. So, off I popped to Motorworld to purchase some of the tint sheeting.

As I read through the instructions it didn't seem like it would be too hard as long as all was prepared correctly and I took my time. I honestly expected to have some seriously nicely tinted windows. How wrong could I be.

Not having the patience of a saint, and not even having the patience of 1 year old, it took only 10 minuites for me to get p*ssed off and end up throwing the tinting sheet out of the car followed by language which better not be repeated.

"Easy to fit" it instructs on the box. Perhaps its easy if you are a car modification expert or work for the company who create the tints but not for me.

So, if anyone can guide me as to how they got on with self-tinting there windows. Or, of any recommended companys within the Northwest and how much they charge for the tinting of the rear windows.

Cheers guys

I did mine in my old mk2 but I removed the rear windows to do it. (rear sides)

Did you use soap and water?

Yep, did it exactly as the instructions read. I think its more the fact I havn't got any patience with anything slightly fiddly.

Re: Window Tinting - Easy my ars....

I had a go at this a while ago, and like you it was a bloody massacre.

I done not to bad at the side windows but as i hadn't prepared correctly there was dust and scrapes on the tint.

The rear window now thats a proper c**t. It bends in about 4 ways so you need to try and do it at least 2 parts but maybe 3.

Re: Window Tinting - Easy my ars....

I got the rear 3 windows done by a ExtremeAutoTints in Glasgow. Not sure if they have any other branches in UK though. Was £100 to get them done and I had the car back after 3 hours, looks mint. I'll try n get some pics up soon. I know its off subject, but just got my Linea Spoiler today n it looks amazin!!

Yes linea spoiler is very very nice how much did it set you back?
Do you prefer it to the sporting spoiler?

Was £120 including delivery (£100 for the spoiler though).

Yeah I do prefer it to the sporting one, just 'cos the angles a bit steeper and I like how it splits in the middle.

Ive been thinking about side and back window tints for my rock n roll blue GP MJ but as the car is really dark blue (looks black until you are next to it) would tints look daft on this colour? I ask coz ive seen tints on other GP`s in red/orange(my fave) etc....what d`ya think guys..?
