Re: Window Tinting - Easy my ars....

heat shrinking the film on rear window is pretty much the only way to get a good finish - there are other ways, but shrinking is by far the most common.

there is no way you'll get a wrinkle-free finish on the rear window without shrinking the film first, and that in itself is not an easy thing to do.

side windows are different because they are practically flat, although you do get cars with curved side windows and the film on them needs to be shrunk aswell.

the cheap option for this mod always ends up being the most expensive, because 99% of the time people pay for the film to do it themselves then end up taking it to a pro anyway.

as for the guy who had a company come to his house and do it there, sorry but i don't agree with that. it's hard enough getting a flawless finish in a relatively controlled environment like a workshop, but trying to achieve that when you've got the elements of wind and dust is practically impossible, you will end up with debris between the window and the film, and when the film lays over a piece of dirt it amplifies it something rotten!

just a bit of advice for those thinking of give it go at home.

Re: Window Tinting - Easy my ars....

I tried it today and ended chucking it! The film was damaged slightly which showed up majorly when on the window, then I managed to split the film and gave up and will have to get a pro to do it cos if I do it again I will end up hurting someone!
