Nitrous

Has anyone had a nitrous kit in there car. I was watching Fith Gear and they put one in a deisel golf and i didn't no it was road legal and doesn't damage your engine unless you over do the power just want other people comments on the subject. Here is the site that sells it and did the one on fith gear

Re: Nitrous

Well in terms of a nitrous oxide system (or nos) and the road it is not recommended. But thats not to say you cant , as far as i am aware you can have it in the car installed (other wise how would you get it to the track) In terms of using it on the road, i have heard of a couple of people do it, a few insurance companys will cover you for it (and i mean a few) But you got to remember if you have a crash with it installed there is going to be a very big boom. You mentioned about Wizards of nos (they are a UK based company that have had good results both on and off the track). The other main makes are: NX (Nitrous Express, they are very big in the Sates and are mid range price) there is also NI-TREX (they can do any thing for a reasonable price) there is alsp ZEX (who are the DIY guys, so you can install it your self) and last there is NOS (who we have all heard of and have become the main name for Hollywood, This is the ultimate name). In terms of putting it in a Grande Punto though i would not, it realy is not the right sort of engine, maby if you tuned the rest of it first, but NOS is normaly the last thing you do. You normaly find Nos in imports or JAP cars like RX7 or EVO. But hay this is just my bit of info

If any one knows anything else leave a comment i would like to know as well

Hope this helps

Re: Nitrous

NOS is not flammable - meaning in a crash it wouldn't explode - it's bloody movies that have given this impression.

It can fuel a fire - just like oxygen, but it is not flammable in any way, shape or form.

not quite it is much more concentrated for use in cars

Nos on its own will not explode on impact, however, as with all oxygen sources if there was a fire or spark available i think it would go up with quite a bang (especially in a pressurised container)

Q) Is nitrous oxide flammable?
A) No, nitrous oxide is NOT flammable. In fact, due to it’s very low boiling point and the pressure it’s contained under it’s actually more likely to put out a small fire (see our videos section). Nitrous oxide is simply an oxidiser. It provides extra oxygen which allows more fuel to be burned, but even this oxygen isn’t available until the nitrous has been broken down into it’s two elements (oxygen and nitrogen) which requires a temperature of 565 degrees F.

Re: Nitrous

to be honest, i can't believe that it does your engine any good but aslong as you don't have your finger constantly on 'the button' I don't see why it'd be a problem...and you'd have to pick your moments very carefully! Don't wanna be boostin down the motorway and have a lorry pull out on you illegally!

Let me know how you get on...i'd be interested to know what the gains are! Love to see the face of that abarth as I boost buy...

Re: Nitrous

You can have it on a switch then it only comes one on full throttle so u dont have to use it alot but would be great in overtaking situation.
