Second bit, not. NOS is made up of two part nitrous oxide, and one part oxygen. Neither of which are flammable. They cannot not be ignited by a spark or flame. The pressurised container would not become explode into a ball of flames, however if it was crushed in an accident then it may dent, but the pressure is far more likely to blow the valve off before the container were to explode (flameless explosion - unless there is already a fire, where it may fuel the fire)

Nitrous is said to have no ill-effect on an engine if used sparingly, and for no longer than 15 seconds at a time.

Tom? Nitrous Oxide is far from being a harmless substance......I suggest you read the MSDS.

If your going to put nos in your car... i recommend you also uprate other parts of your car incase you break anything such as clutch.

50shot of nos = 50bhp, 100 shot = 100bhp. thats what i'm told.

I know of a VW Golf TDI running 200bhp on a remap and also get a 50shot of nos. Ppl seem to like 50shots more than 100. dunno why? safer to the engine and parts around it?

I havent evan got the car yet and i am thinking of crazy thing i will when it it run in then got remap and induction. Then see if i feel the need to get it. Anyone had it on any of there cars?

I'm not saying it's not harmful, I'm saying it is non-flammable, which the link you provided appears to support.

If you are refering to my comment on damage to the engine, well I am only repeating what is known in the car world. The reason I don't have NOS in my car is simply because I do not know what effects it may have. However I will be putting it into my track car (BMW E36) that I'm working on with my mech collegue - he appears to know what he's doing - I hope lol.

last time i threw a aerosol can onto a fire it went up with quite a bang and that is fitted with a much less secure valve system then a nos canister.

that's cos aerosol's are flammable

It is very tempting... DO IT! Hehe I'll wait till someone else does it and their doesn't die. I can imagine that certain components would need upgrading to handle the sudden burst of power.

There is test that they recommend to do to no if there is any starting flaws in the engine. But if you do it all the time there shouldn't be a problem really. Warrenty would be the same as the induction i would of thought. only void if directy affected the faulty part

Nos is not Flammable, aerosols are - Any Pressurised container will explode when heated as the contents will expand - The difference is that when the gases are released, NOS will not ignite - where as the contents of the aerosol will, hence the explosion.

Also - do you know how dangerous igniting an aerosol is? I don't mean to be a spoil sport but a mate of mine severely damaged the nerves in his hand when an aerosol he was using as a 'flame thrower' exploded.

I know a guy who wanted to be a fighter pilot and did the flame thrower thinging and is half blind in his right eye so now cant be a pilot!

Nos is kept in a pressurised container so would explode when gas is formed inside it at the elevated temperatures of a fire. while the nos in itself would not then ignite on contact with the air, if there was sufficent heat from flames to cause the container to explode i would also assume the is sufficent energy to activate Nos as an oxidiser thefore rapidly burning any available fuel. (i not in anyway an expert though venco but always like to learn if what i think is wrong)

also not done the aerosol thing in a long time did it last when i was 13, think i have moved on since then

Let me get this right you want to fit NOS to a brand new car thats probably on finance
