Exhaust Pipe Trim - Will it fit?

Guys, i've been toying with the idea of a split/twin pipe exhaust for a while but didnt fancy a complete new system so was browsing the net for a trim to fit onto the end of the pipe.

I have a sporting, so there is already a chrome trim on the pipe anyway. So my question is, is this removable and if so - will a new trim such as this fit the original pipe?

http://www.motor-world.co.uk/show_prod.php?prod_id=8378

I understand some modifications might be required to the bumper to allow it to fit, but this isnt a problem. Its more the actual fitting of the pipe im concerned about before I buy one.

Cheers

Re: Exhaust Pipe Trim - Will it fit?

i've been looking at doing this aswell mate, really want a twin pipe like the abarth

I don't think you'd need to modify the bumper if you had the right sized twin pipe as the abarth has a similar sized exit...

I think the problem will be with the mounting. As i understand it the exhaust trip has its own downpipe. I'm putting my car on a ramp later to check my GSR so i'll have another look then for you

Re: Exhaust Pipe Trim - Will it fit?

as promised I had a look and i'm affraid its bad news

The exhaust is actually the same shape as the trim...so even if you removed the trim it would still be that oval shape. The next problem is that the exhaust goes all the way to the end of the trim so you would most likely to have a new backbox and tail pipe fitted. This is a real pain in the arse for all GPS owners who were just hoping to change the trim

Yeah I had a look a few weeks back and noticed that.. I think the orginal position of the back box is to high up. You would have to lower it down abit to be able to do that.. I was looking at just buying a new backbox and doing it my self..
