(S) Painting door handles and mirrors body colour

I have got a metallic black 1.2 Active with non-body coloured door handles and mirrors which seem to be plastic and a lighter black (almost grey) colour.

If I were to paint my mirrors and door handles the same as the body colour will they look the same as the rest of the car or does the texture mess it up? Because I think on the higher models the door handles and mirrors are metal so it matches?

I would say as long as you sand them down, prime then do a few coats of the body colour they would match the body colour. My grande punto came with matching colour wing mirrors and door handles and they are plastic.

I guess the best thing is to test it on an area that is hidden first.

What GP model do you have?

Phone your local scrap yard, ask if they have a crashed black punto, take them off there, or order some new ones from Fiat.

You'll have to be good with a can to spray them right mind.

Oh ok I know someone who works at a spraying place who could spray them. Anyone hazard a rough guess on how much they would cost from Fiat and how hard they would be to install?

Hmm, not cheap. Do you think it would be better to just prime them and paint them with a few coats.

but at the mo im just waitin for some idiot to ryt ther punto off n take ther colour coded mirrors.

Yeah its annoying because in the sun you can really notice it, but 'cos our cars are black, in the shade they look colour coded

Im sure someone has already done this, i think it was tozzleozzle, or however it is spelt. He has a green GP.

Oh I have just realized I have misread this, i said its not cheap as I was looking at the actual mirrors them selves at £54 each!

I can see that you were talking about the covers and yeah they are £15 each. So its not too bad.

Now there are 2 versions: Black and Primed. Should I get the black one or will it be the same as I already have? And do I need the Mirror Arm to suit?

keep the same arms n buy primed covers.

So don't paint the arms, they are black on the sporting too then?
