(S) Painting door handles and mirrors body colour

you can take the covers off, i did mine easily enough, wondering if you can take handles off to paint though, dont fancy hours of masking.

I was literally thinking about doing this yesterday, I had a look but have no idea how to take the door mirror covers off? Do you need to take the whole thing apart from the inside the door?

nope you dont have to take it all off you can "pince" the outer casing and give it a a quick tug.

Cool is it easy putting it back in?

just spray the buggers. nearly all us mk2 owners have done it!


i sprayed all bits of plastic on the outside of my car as they were annoying me....

did the same on my mk2, mirrors jsut as easy on a grande, but the door handle look like theyd be a bitch, so getting them done at a bodyshop.

You can sort of see them here if you zoom in, but whats the problem with them cos there oval?



Also I think I will just buy the covers saves me sanding them down.

they look harder to do than an mk2.

would require some neat taping up before hand but it isnt impossible

Getting that little bit where the door handles covers the side up there will a pain todo

But all u do need is a good tape and even scrubbing with old W/D paper

its the keyhole that'd bother me, id personally paint the "handle" (bit the opens door) seperate to outer casing so i can get all round it and underneath it by the way i did my mk2.

for mk2 i opened handle and ran masking tape under it neatly then still while open all round it. That way i could paint all of it and not paint my car

masking would be a pain in the backside really dont you think? or am i just pants at masking
