There is a few company's offering ECU remap's which can see 170bhp and 250ft pbs of torque out of the 1.9 sporting. Also a GSR Engineering www.gsr-uk.co.uk offer a Induction kit for the 1.9 which should squeeze a few more HP and offer less smoke while on full throttle too .

There is also bad feedback . I.e People actually loosing power over fiats standard map once the ECU had finished its Re-learn process.

Its something to do where the ECU learns the best value's for the ignition just to the point of the engine 'pinking'. After you get a remap these value's are reset and the ECU needs to relearn, if the ECU map is done properly you should actually have an increase in power once this has completed.

Chris, do you have an links to gsr as you seem to be constantly trying to promote how good they are etc. Not having a go or anything, just curious. How many people have had this happen with angel tuning? Im probably going to use angel but not if what you have said is a common occurence?

Use google, or click the massive red GSR banner that appears on the top of your page. Im feeling nice so heres the link http://www.gsr-uk.co.uk. Unfortunatly the site is old and needs updating (which I am currently doing in my spare time). They do know there stuff and totally transformed my car once done got nearly 20bhp increase (on a N/A Petrol!) from a remap and induction kit and a much smoother power delivery in every gear with no flat spots it also sounds awesome when you open the throttle .

The problem with Angel tuning and other mobile tuning companys is you don't get proof from a rolling road that there update has actually done anything your only going off how it feels to drive and artificially generated 0-60times (who cares about 0-60 anyways?..) and as I said once the re-learn process has completed you could be back as your were before the remap. This is less likely to happen with the diesels but there has been an instance of a blown turbo due to excess smoke from a mobile company who will remain nameless so I don't get shot .

Re: Diesel modders?

Well in defence of Angel they did mine. 20V engine admittedly so not the same and it made a massive difference to the way the engine revved. a flat spot at 4 suddenly became a point at which the engine surged like a second cam had fired.

I believe the car is only a little faster than it was premap but it drives so much better now it was worth the £200 notes to have them come out to me and map the car.
Also went from around 380 a tank to 425 once. But MPG isn't not a valid reason for a map I don't care who says it is.

Ta Chris,

Well, I still don't know whether Red-Dot or GSR remapped my car as two other guys actually did the job at the RR day. All I can say is what a superb improvement it has certainly Re-learned a thing or two.

Anyway, Red-Dot specifically was recommended to me by a friend of mine who is into his Alfas which helped me to make up my mind. This along with some scary stories (maybe not true and blown out of proportion) about some other companies.
