Car Stitching

Right, I've been in one of my "modifying moods" again lately, so today I thought what else can I do to my car to make it a little more unique.

I came up with... Changing the stitching on the steering wheel and handbrake from white to red. It took me an age, but it's finally finished. Looks really good imo.

What do you guys think?

Tom

Re: Car Stitching

To be honest i dont know what i dont like about them, i just dont think they suit the car too well, looking back i think some 6 spokes would have been a better choice.

Im gettin them sprayed white soon enough to match the Blue/White theme im gonna go for on the car, see how i feel about them then.

Really like what you have done with the stitching - how did you do it btw?

I like what you have done with the grille too any links to threads on some of the mods you have done?

Re: Car Stitching

Thanks. Well I tried colouring it first but it marked the leather a little (cleaned up though).
So I thought I'd just give up, until I saw my Red T-cut (I knew this stained cloth but not leather) so I basically T-cut my steering wheel untill all the white stitching was red. Came up lovely I reckon, no marks or stains on the leather.

Re: Car Stitching

Thanks for the links, really like the subtle mods you have been doing. Not really my sort of thing usually but im gonna get round to doing the calipers and stiching at some point now!

Did you do the stitching on the gearlever too? I dont guess that would work though as it is dark already.

Do you think the paint will rub of easy over time?

Tbh I didn't even try the gear lever, as you say it's dark stitching so not sure, I've got some custom mats coming tomorrow hopefully and I may invest in a black with red stitching gear gator (sp).

I was thinking about the paint rubbing off, so I soaked the steering wheel in everything I could think of (Interior polish, water, soapy water, sweat lol), rubbed it and nothing appeared to come off - I suppose only time will tell, however it's stained now. If it does come off I'll try red wine next I know that doesn't come off.

To recap - I used red t-cut colour conditioner on the steering wheel and handbrake - Effectively dying the white stitching.

I was going to re-stitch but it was too much work considering I could get the same results another way.
