(S) Cheap new mod - Headlamp Covers

Think this is a bit tounge in cheek putting it in the styling section, but have just fitted headlamp protectors to the GP.

Typical Fiat fit and finish (doesn't quite match the body in places), but as most of my driving is on motorways and country A roads so the risk of cracked headlight is a real possibility (had one on my clio sport and it was EXPENSIVE, and about half the size of the GP lights, so hate to think how much they would be).

Have the punto logo on them and that looks quite cool.

did you get them off ebay? i was watching them. lol.

my plan was to also buy a bit of 'light smoke' tinting film to darken them with and get a cool looking headlight.

Yeah, from alfastore on ebay. How would you stand legally with tinting them???? Sounds interesting.

Tinting front lights sounds pretty stupid... They're there so you can see where you're going.

Nest people will be complaining they're not bright enough and wanting to fit HIDs.

lol yeh i was watching them too but my plan was to use light tinting spray. dont know if thats illegal or what though as i think it maybe only for rear lights.

i was considering the spray, and just do a bit around the edge and leave the headlight bit blank. could look good if done right...

Thats the sort of thing that will either look great or absolutely awful. I like the headlights that are fitted to the GP Abarth, the white one if people know what im on about. They seem to be darker inside with the clear plastic still. Ill see if i can find a pic. Would like to get some of those.

yeah i think that is what minnt and grandemike where going for in there tinting thoughts. and funnily enough i had thought the same thing when browsing ebay.

Its obviously a good move by Fiat then if all these people are trying to replicate it already. Its only a matter of time before someone creates something.

The Grande Punto is being launched in Brazil next month, there is a 1.8 sport version which seems to have the new abarth headlights:



Strangely the Brazilian GP has a few changes to it - rounded off door pillars, lock on hatch and different fog lights, not sure why!

My Bravo's front lights are tinted (using the film) - it makes a subtle but noticeable difference which I think is well worth the hassle of fitting the stuff in the first place!

i might just stick it out and buy the abarth headlights then as they are lovely looking!
