Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

Hey just signed up to the Fiat Forum.

Bought a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 Active a few weeks ago, after months of talking about how much i liked the new Punto.

I wanted a sporting model but due to insurance and cash i wasnt able to get one.

Mines a 1.2 Active in New Orleans Blue (navy blue) with Dynamic alloys. Im on the look out for some colour coded wing mirrors and door handles as iv got black ones at the moment.

Im really wanting to get my punto to look just like the Sporting Grande Punto. I was wondering if people can give me a hand on whats best to do. I have got a tight budget at the moment but can buy bit buy bit as time goes on. I just want to get it to have the Sporty look for little effort. Little things like the rear spoiler and maybe painting the brake calipers but then what colour?fog lights e.t.c - Little things like that.

Iv'e seen a few pictures of other peoples styling on the puntos and iv'e been very impressed.

Hope anyone can help.

Cheers Liam

Re: Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

hi liam... nice choice of car, welcome to the forum!

as for styling, instead of having colour coded blue mirror covers why not go for a satin silver finish or maybe an anthracite colour like on the seat fr/cupra/cupra r models and the meggy 225 cup and r26 models, that was going to be my plan, but i might be swapping in a few months so i dont think i am going to be spending a whole lot more on it. lol.

as for other things, there is the obvious swapping and changing of headlight bulbs, side light bulbs, indicator bulbs, brake lights, tail lights, and as you say, paint the callipers. i chose a copper colour as i wanted to be different rather than the norm of red and blue etc etc.

Re: Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

Hey, cheers for the advice.

The satin silver finish is a good idea. What are you changing yours to? Is it possible for me to get some colour coded handles and just change the locks into the new handle?

Whats best to put on my car to have the Grande Punto Sport look? I was thinking maybe a rear spoiler and some sport side skirts. Where do you recomend getting these from?

Maybe some fog lights also?

I dont want to go over the top as i think the car itself looks spectacular on its own i just want to get the Sport Grande Punto look and then a few little extras and then leave it at that.

I want to get mine looking something along the lines of this ->

Thanx again for the help!

P.S have you got any pictures of the difference when you change the bulbs?

Cheers Liam

Re: Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

imo i wouldn't bother with the NFS kit, i prefer the novitec kit...

this could be the way for you to go mate as its pretty subtle, and will stand out amongst all the other sportings that are around.

the bulbs are easy to change, and make a big difference. i also have an interior lighting kit comprising of replacing the interior lights and adding some to the footwells, some in the interior door handles, rear footwells and the one in the boot.

the front headlight bulbs are H4's, side lights are 501's and the front indicators are offset pins, where as the rears are straight/opposite.

i might be swapping mine for a zaffy SRi as we have just found out that we are expecting our first baby... seems a little extreme i know, but hey, im an extreme kinda guy

Re: Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

I really like the inside lights, especially the ones in the back and front footwells!! How did u fit them and where did you buy them from?

Iv already looked at the Novitec Kit looks like what i need. On Ebay the Roof Spoiler is going for £130 plus £10 postage and the Side Skirts are going for £190 plus £10 postage. Is this anygood?

I take it yours is a Sport Grande Punto? I wanto to get mine to look like yours (exterior) So do you reckon i just need a rear spoiler, some sports side skirts and some fog lights??? If so then do you recomend anywhere to get them from? (I know i will need the alloys also, but i shall get them at a later date)

Also i just bought some 'Premium Yellow Carnauba Wax Polish' from Ebay. I havnet yet tried it but was wondering whether this is good stuff to use on my car?

Thanx again!

Re: Advice on how best to style my Grande Punto Active 1.2

haha, wax polish... they are two seperate things... but yeah it should be ok. if you want some advice on detailing then visit www.detailingworld.co.uk and sign up, all the info about car detailing you could ever wish for matey!

as for the looks, the rear spoiler sounds a bit expensive, but it could also be perfectly reasonable as i have no idea as to what these things cost. the skirts sound an ok price though! if you want the sporting ones rather than the novitec why don't you pm Chris@souls as it appears he works for a fiat parts dealer, so he could be beneficial for your quest in creating the look you want to achieve.

as for the interior lights... i'll pm you.

hi there and welcome to the FF.as i have seen there are lot of things you can do to improve the aesthetics of an active GP within money restraints i think the best way to start the transformation is get a second hand set of multijet alloys in good nick i know you said you will do this at a later date but getting these alloys is fundamental to your goal and the wheels would be the biggest step to that then add the sideskirts and spoilers and even clour coding w-mirrors and the likes.the wheels are what play the biggest part in differenciating the sporting from any other model in the line up
