Grande Punto fitted Aux input

Thanks for the useful guide! Just done this myself, although I made the electronics a little easier and just got the Blaupunkt - 3.5mm lead from eBay to go straight into the metal female - female that I epoxy-resin'ed to the centre console. Quite pleased with the results if I may say so!

Just came on to write a guide on this, then realized you'd done one I did mine exactly the same, including the rca connection in the passenger foot well. However due to using the screw type of 3.5mm socket, I had to spend a good 20 minutes sanding the center console to be thin enough

Not sure if I'm just being thick but why do I need to be able to disconnect it?

Can it not be left in permanently?

A few reasons:

1. Kept getting caught when closing the glovebox (sooner or later would have broken the cable)

2. If the end breaks you only need to replace the 3.5mm male-male, not the whole expensive Blaupunkt connection

3. Use any length/angled end 3.5mm cable you want

4. Looks so much more professional! Will probably add £100 on resale just for saying it has an aux input

I have a 2006 gp sporting with the usb media centre in the glovebox. Does this mean that this media centre will be using the space for the aux lead to go in or is the media centre plugged in in a different slot

Thanks for posting the guide. I've just done this on my daughter's car. I went for the fitted socket - in the same place as Cadabna and Willmott1992. There were a couple of small variations though>

1. I used this lead for the back of the radio for £6.50:

2. I used this lead for the centre console because it's a screw-locking female 3.5mm receptacle:

3. I used one of these to connect the two together:

I didn't take the centre console out, I pulled the gear lever gaiter off and already had the radio out to fit the lead to the back of it. I was able to drill the centre console with a 6mm drill in-situ, drop the lead down from the radio slot, reach up the gear lever hole to grab it and push the socket up from underneath.

Help! I bought an AUX in cable that you plug into the back of the radio unit. And plugged it into the back but nothing is happening. What am I doing wrong???

Also did you press the CD button twice? Does it say AUX on the screen... if not if i remember correctly you may have to activate it. I cant remember off the top of my head as the Punto got replaced with an Astra 5 years ago ?

If you have the Delphi version you need to connect it to the AF R and AF ground AF L, plus D Out and D In must be bridged...will not work if you have Blue and Me.

Aux does not come up when you press CD twice. How do you activate it? I've almost accepted that this is just not ever going to happen for me and its USB sticks for the rest of my relationship with the Punto

Hi Mate, being perfectly honest I sold the car 8 years ago and cant remember! I think it was something simple like while the ignition was off, press the menu button and it should be an option.

This thing is having an absolute game with me! While fiddling with it f'ing and blinding because I couldn't plug it back in, the word AUX flashed up on the screen and I have no idea how I got it there!!!! Forever to remain a mystery:-(
