Re: Cleaning the EGR Valve

Great post with pictures, many thanks.

I followed your instructions for my 2007 Grande Punto 1.9 Multijet and it was full of crap. Also the solenoid had stuck solid causing the engine check light to come on. I checked the winding were ok by measuring the ohms across the connector pins. 8.3 ohms reading. If it was very low or nothing would indicate a short and the only fix is a new EGR unit.

I presume by this that the solenoid was just jammed. I found a guide on an Alfa forum to overhaul the solenoid. Drill hole in top and punch the jammed parts out overhaul and put back, took me 3 hours including removal and refitting of EGR. This has saved me the price of a new EGR valve.

All done, reset error egr p0401 error code using INTEY OBD2 scanner i just got and so far the engine light has stayed off.

They suggest try Comma's 'Diesel Magic' and please don't come back or we'll charge you 500 to fix it
Like Davy above I got very excited when I found this guide then realised that the 1.3 was very different in layout.

I since found this thread: Link removed as I don't have link posting privileges yet. Search forum for:
Where is EGR valve on 1.3 multijet 2006 by user anyzunstudios

where Bernievarian has kindly linked to the relevant Elearn guide: 1080C82 so I thought I'd post the link to that thread here in case others are in the same boat.

If I manage to do the job on my 1.3 I'll try and take some photos and update this thread accordingly.
