Rochford Tyres

By all means buy your wheels and tyres there...but don't let them fit them. They managed to cross thread the hub on my Stilo. Beware of these guys, most of there staff look like they're about 16 and go REALLY haphazrdly about stuff. a tyre and wheel place...and not a torque wrench in sight.

They also manged to cip the finish with their impact wrench.

muppets.

have ordered a set of alloys and tyres from them. Awaiting delivery but at least they wont be fitting them. Take it the actual wheels/tyres etc are ok?

Re: Rochford Tyres

Yeah, wheels were ok, and tyres were pretty good for budgets....just check the tyres are on the right way round...they did a guys yesterday and had the rotation the wrong way round...4 drivers side wheels. Idiots.

Re: Rochford Tyres

Haven't spoke to them yet, I only realised this morning after I took the front wheels off to drop the bumper. I'll be ringing them tomorrow if I get chance.

Re: Rochford Tyres

Update on this: They've said that it might be rust from the back of the hub that's been pulled through into the thread....ahem.

Mark, the manager, said that unless I can get up there there's not much I can do, but he gave me the tap and die info for rethreading it and he said if it work'she'll send me a free set of locking wobbly bolts, if not I've gotta get up there. I can understand why he wants to see it, but he's having words with the guy who fitted them about why he chipped the finish slightly, and why he used an impact wrench and not a torque wrench.

Re: Rochford Tyres

Had a similar problem back when my dad got his scenic, around 2000, with Motorway, Nottingham, probably changed their name since. Used an impact wrench but mentioned the brake pads were low, went home, went to take the wheel off to look, no chance, cross threaded the bugger. Said it was our fault blah blah blah used a tap and die and it was fine, just useless service and it was the first time I have ever been rude about service!

Re: Rochford Tyres

I use RSR Tyres, never had a problem with them thus far, they seem to know what they're doing regarding alloys, never had a wheel scratched
