Cambelt change, West Midlands

I'm looking at getting my cambelt replaced in the next few weeks on my HGT M-Jet JTD, and I'm after any advice on where to get it done and how much it'll cost. I won't bother with a Fiat dealer as they'll probably charge through the roof. I'm going to ask my local Nationwide Auto centre, as they always used to be good with my old car and charged a reasonable price.

Can anyone reccommend somewhere in the West Midlands that'll do it for a reasonable price?

Thanking you in advance...

motormech - they are in the city centre near the bullring. I live in rochdale and made the trip as they are very good and good priced.

Taking it for another service later this year

Cheers, I'll give them a ring for a quote. I have heard of them, but thought they did more specialist cars like Fiat Coupes.

Re: Cambelt change, West Midlands

newbie needs help!

Can anyone give me some advise ?

i have a 2001 jtd punto with 90,000 and the cambelt snapped while doing 50mph , i heard a thump then the car lost power and i pulled over. It got towed to a garage and they said that the bukets had dropped which meant that the pins/valves were damaged. They said it was write off and that i could get £80 scrap for it. I asked how much to fix and they said the least it would cost is £850 + vat but the price could shoot up to thousands.
I'm tring to figure out if its worth paying to have it towed home as a friend of a friend who is a mechanic said they could put a new engine in if it needs it or fix it up. I did'nt say what i had been quoted but he quoted between £300-£500 for the fix.

Anyone advise or anyone in the manchester area help

any advise would be great

£300-£500 for the fix is food price, go for it, and ebay value of the car as it is would be a lot more than £80
