Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

Bought a car from them about 10 weeks ago, car fantastic and extremely impressed. However, not so impressed by D & J AUTO's!!

Approx 4 weeks after buying car (05 plate Ulysse 2.0jtd eleganza), we got a puncture late on a Friday night (luckily on way home, and didn't notice until on drive when tyre was slowly deflating!!). Got the jack and wheel brace out and took the centre cap off the alloy wheel; low and behold there was a locking wheel nut in place!!! 1 1/2 hours later, having been through the car with a fine tooth comb I find out they have sold me a car without a key for the locking wheel nut (good job it happened on way home and not 5 hours previously when my Fiance was on M6!!!). Next morning I phone them promptly at 9am, and inform them of the problem and ask what they suggest to be done to fix this and get the reply "Sorry cant help you as the director is away for the weekend and there is no one in the service department to help, anyway the paperwork says that the car was sold with the key in place" I then ask where key is likely to be stored, and after a few suggestions, all of which I had tried the previous night, was fobbed off and told they wouldn't even look at the problem until Monday morning!! I then got a little bit angry and decided to end the conversation before I said something I may regret !!!

Some time later, whilst I was already consulting ROCKINGHAM MOTORS in Rushden about the problem (who were being extremely helpful and were willing to look at the car straight away), D & J AUTOs phoned back and all of a sudden could help and sent the service manager to our house to search the car for the keys!! The service manager arrived, searched the car and just as predicted, failed to find the locking wheel nut keys. He then attempted to remove the locking wheel nut whilst the car was sat on the drive, but unfortunately broke his tools!! They finally picked the car up on Monday morning and had it recovered to their workshops, and delivered the car back Monday night fixed - well almost, they delivered it back with normal wheel nuts not locking one's and said they would order them and post them to us (7 weeks later still waiting for them)!!!

So I suppose in the end their service was ok, but after lots of profanities left my mouth, and my blood pressure soared to skyward limits !!

Still have had a few other niggles with them, such as handing the car over to us with only 1 key. They didn't say anything about the car only having 1 key when we bought it, only after they had taken our money!!! So another visit to ROCKINGHAM MOTORS, and 125 of my own money later I have 2 keys for the car (As I still believe a 13k car should have upon collection!!). It was also handed to us without an owners hand book, which again we were promised in the post, and only arrived 4 weeks later during the saga of the Locking Wheel Nuts!! And finally, when asked if it would be serviced before delivery, I was to no as it only requires servicing every 20k or 2 years but we'll give it an oil change. However after speaking to ROCKINGHAM MOTORS - Fiat Dealer, not Fiat Specialist!!!!!, they informed me that the service interval is actually 18k or every year, therefore if that is the case the 3rd year warranty on the car may be void as I was sold a 15 month old car that has not been serviced in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines !!

Therefore on the whole I would have to give a huge for the car and an even bigger to D & J AUTO's.

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

I've since seen the Alfa uk forums and there are a lot of complaints about them on there too.

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

i actually was recommended them by a mate who has never used them but said they were there. im glad in a way i didnt go and if a company is disorganised and cant organise a p**s up in a brewery then they are not worth using.

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

Looks like D&J have the cheek to come and post a free advert for themselves (assuming they didn't have the manners to ask first), then when someone posts a problem they don't answer.

For me that sums it up pretty well.

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

Another 3 weeks down the line and still no locking wheel nuts, apparently they are on order, how long does it take to deliver these items?!!! I just wanted normal FIAT locking wheel nuts, not hand crafted and sculpted ones!!!!!!!!!

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

14 weeks after the problem with the wheel nuts and still no new one's have arrived . Yet again spoke to D&J Auto's and they assured me that they posted them to me before christmas!! They then said that they would look into it and phone me back, but no call as yet (24 hours later!).

Like I've said previously the car is a dream, absolutley wonderful - except for punctures, had to have 2 more punctures repaired to other front wheel !!! But unfortunately D&J Auto's seem to be extreamly unreliable and offer an extreamly low level of customer service

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

Tap tap.... D&j are you still there?
Can you reset the service indicator on all the Fiat range?
How much do you charge as a one off job?

Do you have the Fiat `inquisitio` tool that seems to be the control for heretics who have done their own service?

Re: Leighton Buzzard bedfordshire

oilrag don't go near them check the Alfa forums for a few nightmare D&J tales, I searched them out when I moved to Bedfordhire years ago and was glad I did they're cowboys by all accounts.

I went in there once and was ignored by three sales people, wouldn't mind but it was empty and is only as big as my front room!!

Are you near them then?

Cheers Hornet, No I`m in Yorkshire but was just interested in whether any of the independents had `examiners` or something else to reset service indicators.
I do my own servicing and the `examiner linked` service indicator will likely catch up with me next time we swap cars
