Glyn Hopkins Romford

Just got my car back from Glyn Hopkins Romford after having the brakes replaced (front and rear) and the cambelt and cam variator replaced.

A fellow forum member SchooweeNick happens to work there, and when he saw my Fiat Forum stickers, arranged a gr8 discount on the parts.

In all the whole work cost me £569 which im well pleased with. Car was washed and is running a treat.

Everything went smoothly, was kept well informed and i wouldnt hesitate in using them again.

I can also vouch for Glyn Hopkin in Romford (Well, more Chadwell Heath ). Nick and his colleagues are always helpful and then some Thank you Nick (especially for the oil)!

Re: Glyn Hopkins Romford

Might come down to Romford this weekend as my bro lives there, have a problem with the airbag failure on the trip computer and dont want to sort the problem out myself. Nick, if I were to use Glyn Hopkin Romford, how quick can I sort out the problem and how much am I looking at.
Thanks

Nice to see Nick too

Re: Glyn Hopkins Romford

I dont know? I'm not so sure about Glyn Hopkin at Chadwell Heath/Romford.

My exhaust was blowing badly near the Cat Converter and needed replacing. I ask for a quote from these people as I live just around the corner to them. They were quoting me £400 - £500. My god! I only have a basic 1.2 Punto??A guy in a suit with a calculator huffing and puffing why it was going to cost me almost £500 to have the exhaust replaced on my car. About how they were going to have to order a part etc etc etc.

Luckily, someone on this site (thankyou!) provided me with a garage in Ipswich. Avanti Autos to be exact. I explained about the exhaust blowing and without even seeing the car they knew exactly what the problem was - where it had blown - apparently its quite common.

Anyway, complete new exhaust replaced and fitted...£108.00. That was a few months ago now and its perfect. Friendly service, showed me what they had done. These guys are superb! I highly recommend these people.

I'm sorry, but I have to differ with this post hugely. Glyn Hopkins Chadwell Heath/Romford are a dealership and have always been overthetop expensive in their quotes for my liking. I'd happily drive mine the 70 miles to Avanti Autos in Ipswich for service and repairs than hand over that kind of money.

They even repaired my clunky door for me for free!

My score for Glyn Hopkins... 0/10. Sorry!!

Re: Glyn Hopkins Romford

I will have to give this Avanti Auto a try, I know Ipswich well, the areas of Civic Drive and Norwich Road anyway leading into Tavern Street and towncentre, where would this garage be from that, and do they open saturdays and sundays for work, like you, if it is significantly cheaper, I dont mind zooming down the A12 just to get my car sorted.

Re: Glyn Hopkins Romford

Avanti Auto's are not a FIAT Main Dealer then.

They are cheaper than Glyn Hopkin fine again as the motor industry is a very competative market.

Do they fit Genuine Fiat Parts, which fit first time and have pan european warrenty?

Do there repairs come with any warrenty?
Do they have technical back up?
Have you ever tried getting compensation out of a independant garage, would you be as confident in getting a problem solved?

Yes main dealers are dearer, know fact. Ask yourself why? The reason is they offer a higher level of service, and the customer has peace of mind knowing that the car maufacturer (FIAT) is backing them, financially and technically.

If no-one buys or uses a Fiat dealer then there will be no more Fiats, ever thought of that?

One thing i will say also is that customer loyalty swings both ways also. If you use a dealer only when your back street garage cannot, why should they return the favour. Ever also thought og haggling the price, every other country does, may help sway your decision to stick with your dealer.

THE END

Re: Glyn Hopkins Romford

Thanks for the comments about the car badkilla..

Wedo try to keep everyone happy but unfortunately there will always be people who we cant.

Competing with non-dealers is IMPOSSIBLE! We charge more for the overall package. This is for the FIAT TRAINED TECH'S, FIAT SPECIALISED TOOLS, GENUINE PARTS, WARRANTY... etc etc.
Not to mention the things that customers pick up on but dont alway's appreciate.. CLEAN CUSTOMER WAITING AREA'S, FREE COFFEE'S, FREE CAR WASH/ MINI VALET, COLLECTION AND DELIVERY SERVICES, etc etc...
I know that dealer's aren't cheap but a 70 mile drive ??
We lose a hell of a lot of customer's to non-dealers due to pricing which is very difficult to counter as people dont try us again. People should at least try to get a quote out of a dealer after they have a cheaper quote.. We do try to get close to their prices but a dealer's overheads are much higher!

As Kubi says if people were to stop using the dealer network altogether there'd be no more fiats on the road!

And just lately all I seem to hear is people calling us from all sorts of area's as we're one of the few dealer's in ESSEX and the 1st thing they say is... "I cant belive I've got to come all the way from southend to romford to collect a part!?" The reason for this???? Every other fiat dealer is closing down! Due to the lack of customer's!

Come on people try to be a little more forgiving when a dealer quote's a price! After all you'll get a better service and higher trained tech's for your money!

I've said it before.... Many of us on this sight adore our car's like a member of the family. So why alway's the cheap option?
How many of you buy the cheapest bog roll?
Bet not many of you! Its not alway's about money is it....
