I'm glad I read this thread after my car had been repaired or I'd have been a bit worried!
My insurance company arranged for my car to go to Nationwide in Barnstaple and I must confess, I was more than happy with them and the repair.
Car was collected and they kept me up to date with what was happening and when I could expect it back. It was returned to me on the agreed day by a very polite chap along with an itemised repair order showing what had been replaced and giving details of the guarantee.
Must be very location-dependent.
