Smile Shiremoor MOT Center North East.

Well They do a great MOT and they check everything. I was well impressed with there Customer service skills and also how open they are to sujestions.

They also have a transporter available if you break down somewhere and there prices are reasnoble. For me to get a tyre swapped over and rebalance valve etc only costs about £8

Make sure you tell them Peter With the flat battery Red Fiat Marea has sent you.

Here is there card if you want it.

Just going to put some key words in here.

I prefer going to Eric Christer in Byker, as he will let me take my car away, fix it, and then get the retest free

Re: Shiremoor MOT Center North East.

ahhh, a north-east threah - this is what I've been looking for, so many garages and you know hard it is to find one you can trust.

I'll make a note of this for when my Punto needs a service and the next MOT.

Well I have been Using Eric since I started to drive and My step dad also used Eric through his Repair man for about 30 Years. but the last few cars I have taken there to have work done have been dissaponting.

For Instance. January A clutch in a Daewoo Nexia. Total Bill Labour only £150 just stopped working and pedel was stuck to the floor. couldnt lift it. Took it in and the new cluch as well asked them to see what had caused the clutch to go wrong and they said it had just failed. then two months ago the cluch went again. so after towing the car back again some 15 Miles and getting a replacement cluch under warentee.

They then ordered (without informing us) a new cluch arm and charged us for the cluch to be fitted again. they also blamed it on the cluch being a cheaper cluch. £5 cheaper. when they took the old cluch out I was shocked they had Prized it out with a screw driver bent all the springs and damaged the cluch face.Total bill £170

and When they took it out I went down and the mechanic had showen me the whole cluch arm and pins etc and said there is nothing wrong with them and Yes I aexamined them. he left them on the bench then dissapeered for a few days. when he came back they had to order a cluch arm and all the bits that came from inside the cluch. as they suddenly were faulty.

Btw it took nearly 3 weeks to do the clutch. one day to open it I took the replacement down the same day and then three days for there ONLY mechanic to dissapear for then another 2 weeks to fit it in. and they charged us £150 per time (Labour) They Gave us some money off and only chaged £30 for the arm, the clutch cost £55. Total Bill £385 for a clutch and the whole car a year before had only cost me £300. and the last two cars I have taken down there and Paid for them to do the work on they havent done all the work. Handbrakes not tightened brakes failing two weeks after it went through the MOT etc etc etc, There great if you do the work but since most of the staff have left or changed roles there quality has gone.

So no I dont use eric any more. Even though I have used them for about 10 Years Now.
