Thumbs down Fiat Dealership in Welling, Kent

For all the peeps that live on the South London/Kent border, just a quick story about my experinces with this garage.

was after a back left tyre for my new Cinq 96 Sporting. After giving them the correct details, they said they would look into it for me and give me a call back. This was in late morning. Phoned back late afternonn after no call and still they said they hadn't looked yet. Phoned up the next day and still they hadn't found one. I mean, for gods sake, they ARE Fiat; they sit in their swanky office hooked up to computers that show virtually every single nut and bolt Fiat make. They never technically phoned me back. Perhaps the Cinq Sporting is a bit too beneath them nowadays,

The result, i went an independant tader who had a the Pirelli 700z for £45, £20 quid cheaper than Fiat.

Wouldn't bother getting a tyre from a dealer as they'll have to order it in, and will probably get it fitted at a tyre place anyway. Cheaper and quicker to go to a quick fit tyre dealer

Rude not to phone back or at least get a tyre price but does not make a dealer 'bad'.Come on it's a friday, cars are waiting to go out,its summer so staff is short(holidays)and tyres are not so by Fiat so will not be listed, tyres are brought in from outside sources.

99.9% of people wouldn't go to a main dealer (any make of car) for a tyre in the first place, what made you try them first?

Re: Fiat Dealership in Welling, Kent

As a manager of a Fiat parts dept i've got to say that it isn't good enough that they didnt call you back!
We've just installed our tyre fitting equipment (6 months ago) and as is said above we cant stock every size tyre in every brand for every model. We do keep a selection of 'budget' tyres for the older models so we can compete with the like of kwik fit etc.. and premium priced tyres for the newer models. but as most people dont try us first we only get the sales while servicing cars!
For a dealer tyres can be very time consuming to sell.. Obtaining sizes and brands required (customers generally presume "you should know this, you're fiat after all!!!") then checking stock availabilty, then trying to sell an equivalent that is easily obtainable, then customer says i'll call back after i've checked with kwik fit... they dont call back as kwik fit have stock and can sell cheaper as they buy '000's of tyres! 10 mins wasted...
However!!!! they should still be courteous and help!!!

Re: Fiat Dealership in Welling, Kent

Understand what your all saying, just got the car and desperately needed the tyre, all the local garages were pissing me about so i thought the Fiat dealership would be my last resort. A call back would have been nice, even if it was a polite sod off.
