Anyone tried the new (well a year almost) Fiat dealer in Hemel for repairs/service as I need someone to look at my noisey steering? Cant go back to Perrys in Amersham as its been there 4 times & Im sure they are breaking something everytime they attempt to repair something else!

Hi there, sorry this has come 2 years later, but to cut to the chase.... avoid Anthony Betts like the plague!! I don't know if the company make it a policy to take your money, waste your time, and give the car back in the same condition or worse, but the Hemel Hempstead branch sure do! I own a 2001 Y reg Punto, 1.2 ELX. The amber (engine management) light first started flashing up about 6/7 months ago. We took it to AB, who claimed to fix it saying it was the engine coils. Within 2 days the ECU light began to flash again. Then they changed the HT leads. The car has been fine up until recently. About 3 weeks ago, we took it to AB for the same problem. They first claimed it was the HT leads which they changed. The engine still struggled so we took it back for visit no.2 This time they claimed it was the coils which they changed. This didn't work so we gave them one last chance, where they finally put their hands up and said they don't know what's wrong with car!! :bang: During this time, I spent approx £300-£350 on parts. I would've preferred to be told from the offset that they don't know what's wrong with the car, rather than waste my time and money. I'm convinced that they do not know what they are doing. I'm not even sure they actually do any work back there in the garage. The chap in charge of the ineptitude idiots who work in the garage is a complete moron with no customer service skills. My advice when it comes to punto problems.... trade it in!! I'm in the process of looking for a new motor right now. DO NOT GO TO ANTHONY BETTS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! If you find a good punto garage please reply to this post.

Not sure exactly where abouts you are but i always take my 2000 W reg Punto to Palmer & Philips near Oxford. Theyre Fiat & Alfa specialists.

My Punto has been very well behaved over the 4 years ive had it, but ive had about 6 services, front disks & pads, rear brake drums, cambelt & an air con pipe replaced by these guys & ive never had to go back because of the job not being done properly.

A friend of mine with an Alfa 147 has had lots of work done there & hasn't had to go back either.

Probably not the cheapest, but probably not as pricey as a main dealer either. Theyre on the Horspath Trading Estate, very near to the BMW Mini factory if youre interested.
