Re: Halfords Auto centre Doncaster

New Update got the car inspected and mot'd at a new garage last week. and he was shocked to find a v large screwdriver in my engine bay with Halfords written on it. anyway Halfords have picked the car up today to be taken away to be sprayed. hoping to have it back in a few days fully painted sensors on the wheels done. and the spare wheel and tool kit replaced. all the other stuff there not doing. passed mot on brakes but on my advisory at there damaged. had to have suspension springs fixed but that's no Halfords fault. new garage treated my car like a princess and me like a king. was so impressed with the new place my dads taken his car there for his work done.

Anyway will update when I get the car back.

Well I am glad there has been some good news. I would suggest going to get some legal advice to get those wheels, tyres and brakes sorted. (Especially the brakes, the mot saying they are damaged is good ammunition to take them on with) They were not your responsibility so I can't see why then can't sort them.

Good luck and keep us informed!

Picked car up as it6 was apparently done now. the only thing that's done right is the spare and tool kit is back. this is how they handed the car back to me. the tire pressure still not working the the valves are on. the pain you can still se where they crashed it in to the wall. the centre caps where brand new on look at the state of them now. I just got in the car and came home I am done with them now. going to get it all fixed and try to sue them. any one got any advice for me. will take more pictures of the brake disc damage too still not fixed

Re: Halfords Auto centre Doncaster

Throughout all this, do you have anything in writing from them about the incident? To take legal action against them, even a small claim, it would work better for you if there was something tying them in. Currently, they could claim that all the current damage has been sustained since you collected it, but the tyre pressure monitoring system is difficult for them to defend.
Don't do anything to repair it until you have sought legal advice, try Citizens Advice, but as soon as possible. Meanwhile don't put too many miles on, as each mile reduces the chance of proving the condition was due to them.
First thing might be to write a letter to their head office, stating simply what still needs to be done to return it to the condition it was in when you first delivered it to them. Include estimated costs if possible. State you hold them responsible, but after however many attempts, you no longer trust them to carry out the work, so intend to get the work done elsewhere and claim from them. Request they reply within a reasonable timescale, perhaps one week.
Don't repair anything until they are advised of your intentions, as they can argue that they were denied the opportunity to fix it.
Lots of photos, dated, will help here.

Re: Halfords Auto centre Doncaster

ok guys talked to my lawyer and its not worth suing them. would cost me what I would get back.

the car wheal sensors are still not working breaks never got fixed tires need to be replaced at least one the front left had a nail in it and is borderline mot fail. paint never was fixed just buffed out. so I have to pay out of my own pocket to put these thing right.

All in all I wont ever use Halfords again even if its just for a bottle of screen wash

thanks for all your comments and support

Don't know who your lawer is but if you win your case, even in small claims court, you get all your costs back. You can place a claim online for a modest fee, no lawer required. Put everthing you re claiming for in the firt pperwork, don't forget to include interest, it's not automatic and can add up if the case drags on.

Further too Robert's post, if you keep your claim value in the small claim monetary limit, even if you lose Halfords can't make you pay their costs even if they choose to use a solicitor.
