Honest and affordable FIAT garage West London?

I will probably be needing a new clutch. Lots of shuddering and pedal vibration and the plastic piston rod already snapped and was replaced last month. I am not 100% sure it is the clutch going.

I have had extremely bad experiences in London garages. Often times i have paid for 'investigations' with no resolutions.

Can someone recommend and fair and affordable garage in London - (preferably West London) where I can replace my clutch and where they don't lead you on expensive 'investigations' to see what is wrong. Also I would like to know a ball park figure for replacing a clutch.

Thanks in advance guys. (y)

Clutch in a Nissan Micra in August just gone was £250 in an independent Norfolk garage. I would consider having a day off and going outside London as the prices are so high and service does not seem to good. Any decent garage should be able to do a clutch in 3-4 hours MAX. Good luck.

Reaper hasn't said what model / engine,
so difficult to put a price on it,

IF it's got a nissan engine (unlikley), then around £250 Assuming it could drive that far..,

basic 8v fire / punto/panda= £200 / £250,

1,9 JTD £500 / £700..again non-London prices..,

Sorry I forgot to mention the mention make and model.

It is a 1.2 Punto 8v MrkII (2001).

It seems there is a premium for London prices and also poor service in my experience.

I am in Brentord and tempted by the Stanmore garage Dave posted, but it is 11 miles away and not sure it will make it that far.

The quote I got from my local garage in Latimer Road W10 was £450.. (n)

have you not got breakdown cover?
you could also ring and see if they collect on a lorry, mention fiatforum when you call

Just gave them a call Dave. The guy was friendly, but the price was a bit excessive. I mentioned the Fiat forum and everything.

Total with labour for a new clutch, £357.

I thought it was a little high.

I found another guy, nearby who said he would do it for £150 labour excluding parts which seemed very good.

However when I saw him today, he - like another mechanic I used to use, said that the clutch still has life in it. He says when it starts to 'Wirrrr' noticeably it is time to change it. So it looks like I will drive the thing until it gives out... The thing does judder and wirrr in first sometimes until I give it more gas... he said it is probably because the plates are worn down.. Also selecting first can be a battle...and I have to force it a little.

You think I will have time to get it to a garage and change it when it is about to go Dave? Or will it be like when my piston rod snapped on the A4 and the clutch pedal simply stuck to the foot well and I was dead in the water so to speak?
