What a rip-off

My wife was so kind as to let me shell out on a new car for her a cpl of months ago and fancied something a bit different, so we decided on a nice little black punto 1.6 sporting. (mmmm nice wheels).
2 weeks in she attempted to launch it off a speed ramp and lost the exhaust.
No probs its only a back box wont be much!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Then i learn its all in 1 exhaust and the cheapest quote is £186.
So i rang a motor factors i know (hex holdings) got a full system (ex cat) for £27 quid, took it to a local garage and bunged him £20 cash to whip it on in his lunch hour (took less than 10 min).

So the point is £47 for a bit of leg work v £186 at fast fit centres

Dont ever think these centres are doing you a favour or fitting your bits for a few quid. From £27 for the part to £186 is a fair old mark up, really they are highway men in nice overalls

Re: What a rip-off

Scum, imagine how many people they rip off who don't have some savvy.

I took a Vectra to a dealer as the ABS light was on. They quoted me £980.00 to have it fixed. I bought an ABS unit from a scrap dealer for £75.00 and fixed it myself in two hours.

Were' in the wrong business.
