Thames Fiat - Slough

What a bag of ****.

Took the car in yesterday to get the service indicator switched off (as they omitted to do it when it went in for service) and to get an underbonnet squealing looked at.

Some tensioner needed replacing (on a 7000 mile old car FFS!) so they said if I could leave it with them it'd be done first thing in the morning when the part gets delivered. Fine.

Just got a phone call "Sorry Mr Buckingham, but the part is on back order and we have no idea when we'll be getting one in".

******s. Avoid at all cost.

To be fair, although not resetting the service indicator is lax, Fiat parts are a nightmare. They really wouldnt know when it was arriving if on back order, its the Italians see, they are too laid back.

Re: Thames Fiat - Slough

Sorry but thats rubbish. I take my car to a fiat specialist for servicing and they can get any part same day, through a dealership.

Main dealers are just p i s s poor.

Re: Thames Fiat - Slough

We do try our best at Thames to get the vehicles in and out of the workshop as quickly as possible. However our downfall is parts as we only have a limited stock on site comprising of mostly service items for the various models. Your parts would have been ordered on V.O.R order which is basically overnight next day delivery. Certain items though do end up on back order for unexplainably long periods. This is both frustrating for you and us because we end up with a car in bits with no parts, which in tern affects our bonus scheme.

trawling for threads on your dealership?

can't be so desperate to defend your place that you feel the need to comment on a 3 year old thread?

Re: Thames Fiat - Slough

Customers expect every part of their vehicle to be in stock at all times, wake up!! it ain't possible!!!
The biggest problem dealers face is getting hold of parts quickly, all too often parts go onto back order with no eta from Fiat.. This is Fiats fault not the dealers. As for the person who said their local garage can get any part same day.. dream on...

Re: Thames Fiat - Slough

I haven't always seen eye to eye with Thames Fiat, finding loose bolts on the cambelt cover when they did the Tempra, and again when they did the Marea, were the low points I think. Actually the real low point was the fitters attitude when he emerged to tell me they had put the cover back on so it actually touched in places. Other times they have been great, and even rang back with free (and useful!) advice when the bonnet release cable disconnected. So prolly better than average.
