Im thinking about getting my car serviced soon. It was apparently serviced at the dealership before I bought it in February but as its not a fiat dealership or anything you never really know how thorough they were. Plus have been doing a lot of long motorway trips consistently since then.

I used to always get it done locally (on my old car) and it was always around £100 where he'd change the oil, spark plugs, have a check over the brakes etc but i expect that'd be about that.

So having seen how much pricing varies, saw these guys on dragons den and the website gives a good list of what they do for each price.

What do you think?

Interim Service £134
Full Service £204

Oh btw its a 56 Grande 1.3 90

By the time you have told them you want a good quality oil and they have done the pollen/fuel/air filters you will probably find the cost goes up a fair bit, and to be honest its not that cheap anyway. If you take it to just a normal local garage you will probably get better service and more control over what gets done and put in your car. The garage I use services my Grandmas Merc A class for £134 ish or £150 ish with sparks...this place would charge £254+

They say they have 750+ garages in their network, well all that tells me is that all their garages are partners anyway, you may as well cut out the middle man and just go straight to a garage you trust. Dont forget to haggle!

What exactly do I need to make sure gets done in my service then? Not 100% sure and just wanna make sure it gets done.

basically in your service book there is a page that shows everything applicable to your car for every service, as long as that is adhered to and genuine quality parts are used there wont be a problem. The garage must be VAT registered and obviously show them the page in the book and make sure it gets done, but thats about it. The garages will be well used to service schedules and there is nothing unique about these Fiats, just be aware that you will need to get the service indicator reset at some point, and that needs the examiner kit.

says on site that service indicator is reset

EDIT: I wouldnt use them, there generic service sheet is pretty much all "check" this and that and not actually change/ replace.

Very expensive aswell, a main dealer will most likely charge you less!

Does the service light not go away eventually anyway or does it have to get reset? The only thing is i'm not totally sure how it has been serviced before, all seems fine and there are mileage's and stuff in the book, you just never know how thorough they have been

The indicator goes away after a bit but the ECU still thinks the car hasn't been serviced which can lead to questions if you have a warranty claim. Shouldn't be a problem if you have the paperwork to prove the servicing has been done though :)

Okay, I got my car serviced with Servicing Stop. I read some amazing reviews, and some pretty bad ones but decided to go with them anyway....
And I have to say, they were awesome! :)
I did my research - and they did actually turn out cheaper than my usual garage (not 50% mind, but definitely still cheaper) which was a bonus.
The guys on the phone were very friendly, professional, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.
They did the whole collection and delivery thing, and as promised, I got my car back on time, the same day.
I would recommend them to anyone - very impressive service, in my mind! :)

:chin: first post aswell....wonder if you work there?

Puts me off straight away when my local Kwik Fit is listed.
Plus it lists just about every garage within 5 miles of me.

Not its the technicians not the garages that you should be looking at.you perfectly entitled to say you want a ATA approved tech to work on your car.

:yeahthat:

Good garage scheme is better.

Not really, any garage can get on the list.

The difference is a ATA accredited technician has attended a test centre and carried out tasks/tests & believe me its not easy to pass those tests! Vehicle care & customer service is also incorperated in the higher tests. Make one mistake & you failed!
