Last summer I was looking for a new Fiat Punto 360 special edition for my son. We hunted high and low until discovering what must be the smallest official Fiat dealer in the UK.

It is called William B Cowan in Tranent just outside of Edinburgh - a tiny place with only about 4 New Cars in the showroom. However one of them was - yes you guessed it a 360 !!!

They beat Arnold Clark hands down on PRICE and SERVICE

£7.5K on the road for a great little car for a teenager - Group2 ins, Air Con, Bluetooth, MPR, Remote etc plus mats and a full tank.

I have since taken a car back there to be serviced and got the same 1st class treatment.

In Scotland it is very hard to find a Non Arnold Clark Fiat dealer but this one is a gem !!!

Yeah ive had a bad, bad ,bad exp at the stoneacre fiat in rochdale they first sold me my fiat punto mk2b for 4.5k with 24,000k on the clock one lady owner ive had it 3 months and it has been in the garage 3-4 times
1. I was promised the exterior supaguard as part of my deal it was not applyed and i took it back to no avail!!!
2. In december my gearbox totally screwed up and broke and it went back in Again for a full new box
3.The gear change cables broke in january and cost me £180 as they arent covered by my warranty that i pay for!!
4. It has to go back the day after the cables were changed for the exhaust to be put on properly as it was blowing it had been plugged with some exhaust filling ****e instead of an actual gasket.

If you want a Good fiat buy brand new not 2nd hand and not from these guys
STONEACRE FIAT ROCHDALE!!!! RIP OFF MERCHANTS!!!

Sorry to hear about your "duff buy" Kixprince - I and my wife have had a Punto Eleganza from new ( From Jam Jar - blast from the past !!) and nothing went wrong with it for the first 4 years - sailed through it's first MOT then the minute I took over its stewardship bang a near £500 bill to get it through it's second mot ( shock absorbers , brakes etc) Still if you average it over 4 years it's not bad.

Now the Climate Control has packed up - have sought advice elsewhere on here.

I think the trick is to get a new or nearly new one (even A Clark are ok for that- pre registered/new) and get rid of it at three years when the Fiat Warranty Expires.

You can get one for under £7k if you shop around:D

Hi T14086

Arthur Daley probably beats them on price as well:D

I see you are in Scotland have you heard of William B Cowan - it must be the smallest Fiat Dealer in Scotland if not in the UK.

However in mine or my sons case small was beautiful:)

Don't you find the demise of Fiat Dealers in Scotland outwith the Arnold Clark Group quite sad:cry:

Yes I have heard of them, there are others aswell further up the coast.

I think the problem with AC is that although they have unlimited training resources (and some of the best techs) they restrict them as the AC group has never been workshop orientated but more sales. Its the companies greed for making money and less on customer satisfaction that gives AC a bad name.

Yes I think you are right - My Eleganza was serviced by them in England when they took over Ryauto in Oldbury (near birmingham) and although fairly expensive we didn't have any problems.

Mind you they probably inherited the existing staff:)

I think most people will pay bit extra to get better service, AC services are cheap but you get what you pay for...theres no way you will get a decent service (out of warranty) in 30-45 minutes!

Someone said to me that AC are the lidl of the motor trade. (I dont know I dont do shopping:eek:)

hi butts,i think i passed it before ,its only got about 10 cars at the garage, but to be sure it is it (where exactly is it) (y)

Thought people might like an update on this garage. I used to live out that way (near Tranent) and Cowans, which in those days was a Saab dealership? At that time I worked in a BL dealership in Musselburgh and you would hear customers occasionally mention them - it was always highly regarded. Then they changed to Fiat and they continued to be held in high regard. Then a change of job meant we moved into Edinburgh and I kind of lost contact. A few years ago we went a wee drive round our old haunts out in that direction and we noticed that Cowans was gone! I've come across an internet entry saying the company was wound up in '15. What a pity. I'd been in a couple of times when looking for cars to buy and they were the definitive small garage with very approachable, pleasant staff and the informality that you seem to only get in such establishments.

I regard them - Stoneacre- as something I dont want to step in. I drove 160 miles to see a car advertised currently to find it was and had for some time been sold. My impressions have been confirmed by the way Linzi-Lou on here was treated with her new Panda Waze. They clearly hate customers and dont deserve anyone's consideration. imho!
