If you're after an independent garage who specialise in Italian cars, then you can't get much better than John Whalley in Bishop's Stortford.

I believe that John W Whalley used to be a rally driver back in his day in the 20's and 30's and the current manager, John M Whalley, rallyed Lancia Deltas in the 80's.

The garage actually specialise in the Deltas where they do left to right hand conversions, restorations etc but they're also an Alfa Service Centre and they do Fiat's as well.

I've been taking my Stilo Abarth here for a little while now and they've got the Examiner system and expertise in the Selespeed gearbox and they've never done me wrong. I can't recommend them highly enough.

02 abarth gearbox problem (triptonic)

i bought an abarth some months ago and has given me some great mileage. It has only 47000 warrantated miles on the clock. yesterday whilst crawling along at 3miles an hour in traffic the car jumped out of gear. It will go into gear but hardley any traction....it sems as though its screaming trying to connect to the gears but nothing happens. AA brought it home.
Historically gear change was a little grumpy as though it jumped into the gear slot.
i have it sitting in afriends garage who really ahs no idea of these cars and wondered if anyone had encountered this problem.....do i have to go to a main dealer? I gues they will probably say change gearbox.....need to get it repaired
HELP
Cheers
Omar
