Re: SGM fiat trying to rip me off- advice please

SGM are notoriously tight. I've bought several new Fiats over the past few years and have never got remotely close to doing a deal with them. Without fail they have always offered less than anyone else on a trade in. One particular salesman rolls his eyes and seems to get off on telling you how little he will give for your car. It's my closest dealership, but I absolutely hate the place. Stay away if you can.

I couldnt get a single penny off from them, the salesguy was a bit old school to be honest but... only other dealers my way are the dreadful Westover franchise... had far too many problems with them.
However, SGM were very helpful initially.... but soon as I handed a deposit over they became non too clever, I only hope my cars OK when I collect it.

TBH most car dealers are the same, once theyve got your money they dont care anymore.

If they lied to you then there is no contract, you can sue for your deposit in the small claims court.

You hear numerous complaints about Fiat Dealers and they always come last in surveys. My recent experience at a dealer (see this thread) has been so bad that i'm currently involved in a case with Fiat UK. The dealers are the main reason why people don't buy or are reluctant to buy Fiats. If dealerships are not performing and are consistantly poor, their should lose their franchise. No dealership is better than a bad dealership.

Re: SGM fiat trying to rip me off- advice please

Just to let you know, I went in and bypassed the muppets to speak straight to the manager. I said I had come for the refund of my deposit and it was returned without question.

The sad thing is that they were prepared to let me walk away from a car that they had already taken a deposit on (so they have already made £500 on it) and thats been sitting in the showroom since february all for the sake of £400.

SO, the big question now is, having exhausted all the dealers near to home and work, where DO I get my Fiat 500 from?

Re: SGM fiat trying to rip me off- advice please

My advice is to buy one from your nearest, they are pretty much all the same really. Some have good sales staff, some good technicians, some good parts dept and some even have decent managers.... but non have all of them!
At least SGM are only Fiat, unlike lots of the big chains, whereas one minute a tech will be fixing say a Renault, then your Fiat. I just hope my experience of actually getting my 500 from them is better than the waiting experience!!!

Re: SGM fiat trying to rip me off- advice please

I have just discovered the same car advertised on Auto Trader at what turns out to be SGM's sister branch: Middleton Fiat in Bognor Regis. I know this because I rang to check. Middleton Fiat are advertising the car at £11700 instead of the £11975 SGM tried to flog it to me at!
