Angry Fiat in cornwall

I am on holiday visiting my sister who lives in st day, Cornwall. We visited a local dealer in camborne (ongros/fiat and alfa)to fix a problem with the air bag light on in her punto. tall man dark hair in reception totally uninterested, only seemed to want our money. They parked the car in the garage, but did not touch it for about 35 mins then charged us a large amount for about 8 mins work. The garage was recomended to us by a neighbour, she said the old guy in reception was very helpful, ("i wish he was there"). Has he moved on to maybe another local fiat dealer ? - can someone in that neck of the woods suggest a dealer that might care for my sisters car.

I was down in Corwall last weekend, there was a FIAT garage just up the road called 'St Erth services'.

Re: Fiat in cornwall

This Garage is on an industrial est, so I had a walk and a fag thats how I noticed they never touched the car for so long. I only walked about 100 metres from the time they took the car into the workshop until the time they returned it to a parking bay. They said they had reset the system on the computer and all was now ok, charged us £65 for the work. If I had sat in the reception and waited an hour, charge may have looked to have been ok, but from my walk around I could see they had not touched the car for a long period, I think this was a money making exercise for them only. My sister will not use the Garage again and we will check out vospers and st earth.

Re: Fiat in cornwall

take it back and as to speak to their top det, and ask what fault put the light on, and what did they do to put that fault right, as just clearing the code so light goes off is not the way to solve it

Re: Fiat in cornwall

I am now back home and guess what ! my sister phones today to let me know the light is back on.!!! She will not go back to Ongaro's on her own, so I have told her to take the car to Vospers as that is her nearest garage. I have also told her to get a full report on the problem, so will report at a later stage. People of Cornwall avoid ONGARO'S at all cost!!!!!!!

Re: Fiat in cornwall

I'm originally from Pool and have never heard of ONGARO'S (is it an independant?)?? The main dealer is Vospers (Big west country chain) between Redruth and Camborne. St Erth (between Hayle and Penzance) seems ok too the sales staff have always been friendly anyway.

Angry Re: Fiat in cornwall

Had some time on Tuesday morning after the bank holiday, so phoned Ongaro's to ask some questions ? I wanted to speak to the DET as advised on the Forum, but informed they do not have one for Fiat only Alfa. I asked if I was speaking to the Service Advisor ? (reply NO) Are you the Service Receptionist ? ( Reply NO) Do you have a Service Manager or Parts Manager ? (Reply The boss john does all that, and he is away ) I fear there is no hope for this dealer, Vospers here I come. !!!
