First experience with a garage

first time i've ever sent my car to a garage to have work done so thought best to do it while i wont need the car.

they told me my car would be done by lunch time today so i gave them a rang and it appears they managed to order the wrong wheel bearing/hub kit, but not just once, they ordered a second one thats also wrong. they are now waiting for a third to turn up (tomorrow) so they can get it done....

i'm quite supprised they managed to do that really, and to think how much these places charge!

thats just the standard lies you get, they have the right part, they just dont have the time to do it and they arent daft enough to say no to work no matter how busy they are.

Welcome to the world of the mechanically clueless . Finding a garage you can trust is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Re: First experience with a garage

You got off lightly, when we used to get company Fords they used to minutley inspect the contents of the glovebox for anything of value, spray the interior lightly with grease, take thier dogs to the park and bring them back without washing their feet, if you left any fuel in the car they would go home to lunch followed by a driving test around the service bay then they clearly had sweep to see who could hide a car in the most innaccseble place for you to find it after you had signed for the work of fiction presented as an invoice. Any problems reported under warranty were logged as no fault found. Mine gave out with defective spark plugs the day after they were charged for on a major service. When policy changed and we got a budget and could choose what we wanted ( oh that 2l cam in head Opel Rekord Estate in dark blue, what a car)the dealers sales director rang our buyer and asked him why he had not heard anything for a while
