My 360 is f****D :(

Was playing my 360 all morning, turned it off to have my dinner, so 20 minutes later started it up again and i have 1 red light in the bottom right quadrant with an error code 74 and to call tech support, before this appeared there were green lines across the tv screen, then it dropped back to dashboard then the red lights appeared. Problem is i bought this off a guy off ebay in january, who had got it from argos in november 2006, so does this mean i wont get it repaired F.O.C?

you mean 2005 i assume,im which case its outside its 12 warrenty

check the AV cable is home securly and swap it out if a mate has a 360

Will phone MS later but it looks like a hardware fault, so looks like i will be on the hunt for a 360 tomorrow

do u really need a 360 that much? get a car u have ot tinker with, then u'll be fine

Yeah i do mate, spend a fair few hours every night on it.

I have a fairly quick car, and have some sparco torino 2 recliners and harnesses to go on but waiting for the s/frames from sparco in 7 - 10 working days.

error 74 relates to an AV fault.
DO AS THE CUSTARD TELLS YOU!

I hope its not a problem with the TV, as this is out of warranty too (samsung HD 40" LCD). I have tried removing the av cable and re connecting everything, with no luck.

send them both to me for um long term testing
well its most likely a dodgy AV connection on the console or cable.
faulty monitor is less likely to throw up a 360 error code.
no mates with a 360?

Not close by. I will try unplugging everything and reconnecting it now...

worst case buy another AV lead,cheaper than a new 360 and easily sold on
also inspect the pins in the AV cable for loose/broken prongs

Well i got the proper error code using the sync button and eject button and got 1022 which is definitely an AV cable problem. Next decision is wether to get a component or VGA cable?

tis up to you,hopefully its just the cable and not the encoder so buy the best you can afford for your set up

I got a cheap joytech av cable (scart 1 this is the only one they had in) and booted up but i still get the same error messages, E74 and 1 red light. Looks like its the encoder
